  • Mixed Waste is required for a permanent, full-time leadership role within the renewable energy sector.
This opportunity is suited to an experienced operations leader with a background in mixed-waste processing, anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable natural gas or related industrial operations. This senior role offers the opportunity to take ownership of safe, reliable and financially responsible facility operations, combining hands-on technical expertise with strategic business leadership. You will lead site operations, drive continuous improvement, manage operational performance and work closely with senior leadership across engineering, maintenance, finance, safety and other functions.

The Senior Director of Operations Role:
Provide overall operational leadership for a mixed-waste processing facility, establishing priorities, performance expectations and accountability. Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure safe, reliable, efficient and financially responsible facility performance. Lead operational improvements across processing performance, reliability, maintenance priorities and asset management. Provide technical guidance on mixed-waste processing, anaerobic digestion performance, feedstock management and process optimisation. Manage operating budgets, capital expenditure planning and financial performance while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. Support capital improvement projects and facility modifications in partnership with engineering, construction and maintenance teams. Maintain strong environmental, health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements and corrective actions. Lead, coach and develop site operations teams while promoting accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement. Communicate operational performance, risks, opportunities and recommendations to senior leadership. Build effective relationships with internal teams, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders.
Senior Director of Operations Requirements:
10-15+ years of progressive operational leadership experience within mixed-waste, anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable natural gas, landfill, wastewater, natural gas or similar industrial environments. Proven experience managing operating facilities and leading site-based operations teams. Hands-on experience with mixed-waste operations is required. Strong understanding of anaerobic digestion, digester health, feedstock management and biological process performance. Experience managing capital improvement projects, facility modifications and operational improvement initiatives. Experience with operating budgets, capital expenditure planning, maintenance programmes and facility P&L responsibility. Knowledge of process equipment, facility infrastructure, reliability practices and operational troubleshooting. Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, mechanical, electrical and piping drawings. Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills with the ability to work with senior executives.
