Job Description

Charleston County Fleet Operations is seeking an experienced Fleet or Operations Manager to join Fleet Operations team. This position will provide supervision over the Business Manager, Fleet Trade Technician and the Operations Manager positions. You will be responsible for assessing the current vehicles and determining when vehicles require replacement, researching and analyzing bids and providing recommendations to ensure specification compliance and facilitate delivery.

$76,315 - $99,964 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Position Requirements:
Collaborates with departments to identify the type and quantity of vehicles needed. Engages with vendors to procure necessary vehicles and equipment. Utilizes appropriate software to analyze fleet data for informed replacement decisions. Completes all required documentation for fleet onboarding. Serves as the primary Transportation Manager during the activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Reviews all vehicles and equipment submitted for replacement, assess their condition, and approve applications based on replacement criteria. Acts as the customer service liaison with other County departments. Attends and actively participates in training sessions and committee meetings. Ensures the efficient auction/resale of County equipment items by conducting condition assessments, taking photos, providing accurate descriptions, determining values, and supplying other relevant information to prospective online auction bidders High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of six (6) years or more of professional work experience in Fleet Management, Logistics, Operations or Cost Management, with a background in supervising staff or managing a fleet. OR Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field of study and a minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience with a background in supervising staff or managing a fleet. Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in Fleet Management, Logistics, Operations or cost management, with a background in supervising staff or managing a fleet may be substituted for Undergraduate Degree. Must have substantial knowledge of Faster , Ward , and Mansfield Fleet & Fuel Management Software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Must possess a valid SC Drivers license (or obtain within three (3) months of hire) and meet the requirements of the County's motor vehicle policy. Position may require a Commercial Driver's License.
