This role provides hands-on operational leadership and direction to associates while working under the oversight of the Assistant General Manager. The Hotel Operations Manager partners closely with hotel leadership to monitor daily operations, address operational needs, support associates, and maintain company and brand standards. This position has limited management authority and is intended to support the execution of property priorities while formal employee relations, disciplinary actions, and overall property management remain with the Assistant General Manager and other authorized leadership. Essential Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Team Support Provide hands-on operational support and day-to-day direction to hotel associates across applicable departments. Coordinate daily operational priorities to support efficient hotel operations. Assist with staffing coverage, call-outs, shift adjustments, and other immediate operational needs. Communicate operational expectations and follow up with associates to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed. Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and a guest-first culture. Identify operational or employee concerns and promptly escalate matters requiring management action to the Assistant General Manager. Support onboarding and on-the-job training of associates as directed by hotel leadership. Guest Experience Promote a guest-first culture and help ensure consistent delivery of exceptional service. Monitor guest feedback and identify opportunities to improve the guest experience. Respond to guest concerns and assist with service recovery within established authority and company guidelines. Escalate significant or unresolved guest concerns to the Assistant General Manager as appropriate. Support hotel teams in anticipating guest needs and resolving operational issues that may affect guest satisfaction. Maintain a professional and welcoming presence throughout the property. Hotel Operations Monitor daily hotel operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other applicable operational areas. Conduct regular property walks to identify operational needs and ensure established standards are maintained. Assist departments with coordinating priorities, assignments, and operational requirements. Monitor room readiness, cleanliness, public areas, and overall property presentation. Support effective communication between departments to promote smooth hotel operations. Assist with opening, closing, shift-transition, and other operational procedures as applicable. Respond to operational issues and coordinate appropriate follow-up with the Assistant General Manager and department teams. Support hotel operations during high-occupancy periods, special events, staffing shortages, or other business needs. Property Standards & Maintenance Coordination Help ensure guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel grounds meet company and brand expectations. Identify maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and property-condition concerns during routine inspections. Communicate maintenance needs and follow up on work orders or repairs to support timely completion. Coordinate with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments regarding property priorities. Monitor supplies and operational resources and communicate replenishment or purchasing needs to authorized leadership. Assist with preparation for brand inspections, internal audits, and other property reviews. Financial & Administrative Support Assist hotel leadership with monitoring labor, staffing, inventory, supplies, and other operational expenses. Review applicable operational reports and communicate trends, concerns, or opportunities to the Assistant General Manager. Support inventory counts, ordering processes, receiving, and supply management as assigned. Assist with daily operational documentation, checklists, logs, and reporting requirements. Help identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and control costs while maintaining guest-service standards. Follow established procedures related to cash handling, deposits, or other financial processes when assigned and authorized. Compliance & Safety Support compliance with company policies, hotel operating procedures, and applicable brand standards. Help maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and associates. Identify and report safety hazards, security concerns, and policy violations to appropriate hotel leadership. Support compliance with emergency procedures, safety programs, and required operational protocols. Ensure assigned operational activities are performed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Participate in required safety, compliance, and brand training. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hotel, hospitality, or related customer-service operations. Previous experience providing operational leadership, shift supervision, or team coordination. Strong guest-service and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to coordinate multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business applications. Ability to learn and effectively utilize hotel property management systems and other operational technology. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous hotel supervisory or operations management experience. Experience supporting multiple hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, and Maintenance. Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS). Familiarity with hotel brand standards, quality assurance processes, and property inspections. Experience with hotel operational reporting, labor management, inventory, or purchasing. Work Environment Fast-paced hotel environment with frequent interaction with guests, associates, vendors, and hotel leadership. Regular movement between Front Office, guest rooms, Housekeeping, Maintenance, back-of-house, and exterior areas. May occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals, maintenance areas, outdoor weather conditions, and moderate noise levels. Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and periods of high occupancy as business needs require.
