BASIC FUNCTION
Managing, directly and through subordinates, all processes and activities for the Deposit Operations Department and Customer Service, including but not limited to, processing NSF and non-posted items, ACH returns and/or exceptions, Incoming and Outgoing Cash Letters, Fed Transit returns, Adjustments, Monitoring of Dormant Accounts and Annual Escheatment of Accounts, Processing of Incoming and Outgoing Wire Transfers, and oversee the Onboarding and daily activity of the Business Solutions Products.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE
Day-to day oversight of deposit compliance and supervision of the Deposit Operations team to ensure regulatory compliance as well as Bank Policy and Procedures are followed. Monitoring the deposit activity, including posting errors and communication with customers, internal and external. Monitoring Business Solutions activity related to Onboarding and daily transactions. Supports ongoing customer guidance and staff training and manages the Annual Customer Risk Assessment process. Establish and develop policies, processes and procedures for the Deposit Operations team to help ensure operational efficiencies, quality customer service and regulatory compliance. Acting as a liaison and working with Executive Management to resolve system issues, strengthen controls to ensure regulatory compliance, improve workflows and suggest system enhancements. Oversight of Special Projects, including but not limited to, New Products and Services, System Upgrades, Business Continuity, and System Conversions. Oversight of workflows and schedules Managing the personal and professional growth of the Deposit Operations team by defining performance expectations, establishing goals and standards for the department as well writing and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Customer Service o Oversight of Customer Service staff to ensure calls are handled timely, accurately and that the ValueBank Customer Service Standards are always adhered to.
  • Maintaining open communication with customers, co-workers, supervisors and management by providing professional and courteous service.
  • Maintaining open communication with the bank's vendors.
  • All other job duties assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:
Integrity, discretion and respect for confidentiality are essential Strong leadership qualities to include excellent communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of banking systems Four-Year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience Five year's extensive experience with customer service, deposit operations and regulatory issues. Experience with managing a team Ability to manage day-to-day activity in the department while working on projects and other bank initiatives Strong attention to detail Ability to exhibit sound judgement Time management skills and the ability to prioritize duties and workflows within the department with the level of urgency needed Ability to lead and mentor staff Pleasant telephone skills and courteous manner is a necessity Proficient with
Microsoft Office and E-Mail Education:
  • High School or Equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; Accounting degree preferred .
Experience:
  • Three to five years of banking, deposit operations, or accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, balancing, and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of ACH, wires, exception processing, deposit account maintenance, and other deposit operations functions.
  • General understanding of applicable banking regulations and operational compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve complex transaction and balancing issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive daily processing deadlines.
  • Ability to identify operational risks and recommend process and internal-control improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other banking/accounting systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the "why" behind operational procedures, identify risk and control weaknesses, and develop practical solutions that protect the Bank while supporting efficient operations.
