Job Description

Overview The Operations Supervisor is a frontline leadership role responsible for converting customer commitments and commercial plans into reliable daily warehouse execution. Based in Pooler, GA and reporting into site or operations management, this role provides direct supervision to warehouse associates across receiving, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping activities. The core mandate is to ensure that throughput, accuracy, safety, and cost targets are consistently met or exceeded, while maintaining high employee engagement and adherence to UNIS standards and customer requirements. In the broader organization, the Operations Supervisor acts as the operational "control tower" for a designated shift or functional area, coordinating labor, equipment, and workflows in real time. This role connects strategic priorities—such as service-level agreements, capacity plans, and technology adoption—with the day‑to‑day behaviors and decisions on the warehouse floor. The supervisor is accountable for using data, warehouse management systems (WMS), and AI-enabled tools to manage performance and identify improvement opportunities, while coaching associates to operate safely, efficiently, and with ownership. Success in this role directly influences customer satisfaction, network reliability, and the scalability of UNIS's technology-driven logistics solutions. Responsibilities 1. Lead daily warehouse operations across assigned functional areas (receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, shipping) by organizing labor, assigning tasks, and sequencing work to meet service commitments, on-time shipping, and customer-specific requirements. 2. Monitor productivity, quality, and safety metrics in real time using WMS, reporting tools, and dashboards; proactively adjust staffing, workflows, and priorities to achieve throughput, accuracy, and cost targets while minimizing delays and rework. 3. Provide hands-on people leadership by coaching, developing, and holding associates accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and behavior standards; conduct regular feedback conversations, support onboarding, and escalate performance issues appropriately. 4. Conduct pre- and post-shift meetings to communicate operational priorities, volume expectations, safety topics, and process changes; foster a transparent, respectful, and high-performing team environment that supports cross-training and collaboration. 5. Ensure strict adherence to company policies, customer SOPs, safety regulations, and operational procedures, including housekeeping and equipment usage; promptly identify, document, and correct unsafe conditions, compliance gaps, and operational deviations. Minimum Requirements 1. High School Diploma or GED, demonstrating foundational literacy and numeracy necessary to interpret operational data, work instructions, and safety documentation. 2. At least 3 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations, with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership, supervisory, or lead role directly overseeing frontline associates in a fast-paced environment. 3. Proven experience managing shift-based operations in warehouse, fulfillment, manufacturing, or 3PL settings, including responsibility for labor allocation, workflow coordination, and meeting defined productivity and quality targets. 4. Demonstrated leadership capability with evidence of coaching individuals and teams, addressing performance or attendance issues, and fostering a culture of accountability and safety. 5. Working proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), basic productivity reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel and Outlook) to manage schedules, track performance, and communicate effectively. Preferred Requirements 1. Experience supervising teams within a technology-driven logistics, 3PL, or fulfillment operation where WMS, scanning technology, and automation tools are integral to daily workflows. 2. Prior exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma concepts) with a track record of participating in or leading small-scale process improvement initiatives. 3. Experience working with AI-enabled or advanced analytics tools to interpret operational data, identify trends, and support decision-making in warehouse or supply chain environments. 4. Background in managing operations for high-volume, time-sensitive customers (e.g., retail, e-commerce, or manufacturing clients) with defined service-level agreements and strict compliance standards. 5. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills, particularly in languages commonly spoken by warehouse workforces, to enhance coaching effectiveness and team alignment. Skills 1.
Operational Leadership:
Ability to lead a shift or functional area end-to-end, including planning workloads, assigning tasks, managing break schedules, and making timely decisions that balance service, cost, and safety. 2.
People Management and Coaching:
Skill in motivating, developing, and holding associates accountable; providing clear feedback; addressing performance issues; and building a culture of ownership, respect, and teamwork. 3.
Performance and Data Orientation:
Comfort using WMS, dashboards, reports, and basic analytics to monitor KPIs (e.g., productivity, accuracy, on-time performance) and translate data into actionable decisions on the floor. 4.
Communication and Influencing:
Clear, structured verbal and written communication skills for shift briefings, instructions, incident documentation, and coordination with leadership, peers, and cross-functional partners. 5.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
Ability to quickly diagnose operational bottlenecks, prioritize issues, and implement practical solutions under time pressure, while escalating structural problems appropriately.
