The Operations Manager is the head of the Operations Department and oversees and coordinates all phases of residential and multifamily construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards. This role manages day-to-day operational functions across all projects, including field teams, subcontractors, and resources to keep projects moving efficiently from start to finish, while ensuring alignment with scope and project requirements. Strong communication, construction knowledge, and hands on problem-solving are essential. The Operations Manager is expected to make informed decisions, resolve issues quickly, and apply lessons learned to improve performance across projects. A solid understanding of contracts, accounting principles, regulations, and negotiation is important for the success in this role. Key responsibilities Manage day-to-day operations for residential and multifamily construction projects, including renovations, unit turns, capital improvements, and new builds. Oversee field teams, subcontractors, and maintenance crews across multiple active properties. Conduct site inspections to ensure progress, quality, and compliance with building codes and multifamily standards. Resolve field issues quickly to keep projects on schedule and within scope. Allocate labor and resources based on project priorities, occupancy needs, and timelines. Develop and manage budgets, track costs, and address variances to maintain profitability. Review bids, approve purchases, and manage subcontractor invoices. Hire, onboard, and manage subcontractors across key trades. Ensure safety compliance through inspections, meetings, and jobsite audits. Provide weekly updates and reports to leadership. Improve workflows for unit turns, renovations, and capital projects to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Skills Strong leadership and team management across field and office operations Deep understanding of residential and multifamily construction processes Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple active projects Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments Budget management and cost control awareness Ability to manage subcontractors, vendors, and field crews effectively Working knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and job execution Proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent projects
