Job Description

Central Virginia Swim School is seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead our new indoor swim lesson facility. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations, elevating the customer experience, developing a strong team, and driving sustained growth. Position Overview The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day success of the swim school, ensuring smooth operations, exceptional customer experience, and strong team performance. This role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring someone who can lead staff, solve problems quickly, and step in wherever needed. Key Responsibilities Staffing & Team Management Recruit, hire, and onboard swim instructors and front desk staff Train, manage, and evaluate team performance Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure full lesson coverage Foster a positive, professional, and accountable team culture Operations & Scheduling Oversee daily operations of swim lessons and front desk activities Coordinate class schedules, enrollment, waitlists, and student progress tracking Step in to teach swim lessons when instructors are unavailable Ensure all classes are properly staffed and running on schedule Maintain organization and efficiency across all programs Customer Experience Build strong relationships with parents and guardians to communicate progress and address concerns Deliver and uphold a high standard of customer service Answer phone calls and respond to emails in a timely, professional manner Assist families with registration and program selection Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and care Ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality customer experience from inquiry to ongoing enrollment Administrative & Financial Support Prepare and submit payroll accurately and on time Assist with enrollment tracking and basic reporting Maintain organized records and communication systems Marketing & Growth Support Execute marketing and sales initiatives Create flyers, registration materials, and social media content Support efforts to increase enrollment and retention Facility & Equipment Management Monitor and manage the inventory of pool equipment and supplies Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained Qualifications CPR, Lifeguard, and Pool Operator certifications (required or willingness to obtain) Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment Willingness to be flexible, including working evenings and weekends What Success Looks Like Classes are fully staffed and running smoothly Staff are reliable, trained, and engaged Customers are happy, informed, and returning Central Virginia Swim School is a small business built from the ground up with a commitment to quality, community, and care.
