Director of Operations — Two-Unit Restaurant Group We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee two established, independently operated restaurants in the Mineral, Va area. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who knows restaurant operations, understands the numbers, develops strong managers, and takes ownership. Each restaurant has its own General Manager and leadership team. Your job is not to be the GM of either restaurant. Your job is to lead the GMs, hold them accountable, improve performance, and ensure both restaurants operate successfully without constant owner involvement. Responsibilities Directly lead, coach, and hold accountable the General Manager of each restaurant. Oversee sales, labor, food cost, profitability, guest counts, and other key performance indicators. Review weekly and monthly financial performance and identify areas requiring action. Ensure GMs are maintaining proper staffing, scheduling, training, cleanliness, service, and operational standards. Identify problems before they become emergencies and ensure they are resolved. Develop systems and processes that make both restaurants more consistent and efficient. Hold managers accountable for commitments, deadlines, budgets, and results. Assist GMs with hiring, development, disciplinary issues, and difficult personnel decisions. Oversee major maintenance and vendor issues and ensure proper follow-through. Conduct regular restaurant visits and operational inspections. Lead weekly meetings with each GM and provide the owner with a concise performance update. Step in as senior operational leadership when a GM is on vacation or unavailable. Protect the guest experience while improving profitability. Continually look for opportunities to increase sales and reduce unnecessary expenses. What We're Looking For Proven restaurant management experience. Multi-unit management experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of restaurant P&Ls, labor costs, food costs, budgeting, and operational KPIs. Proactive rather than reactive. Strong follow-through and attention to detail. Comfortable holding managers accountable. Able to delegate rather than trying to personally solve every problem. Strong leadership and coaching ability. Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Comfortable making decisions independently. Takes ownership of problems from identification through resolution. Hospitality-minded while still financially disciplined. What Success Looks Like The right person will build two strong, increasingly self-sufficient management teams.
