General Manager / Business Operations ManagerBurien Sand & Gravel - Burien, WA Starting at $30.00 per hour + Profit Sharing Opportunity Are you the type of person who enjoys building a better business? Burien Sand & Gravel has proudly served contractors and homeowners throughout the Seattle area for decades. We're looking for a hands-on General Manager / Business Operations Manager who wants more than just running the daily operation—we're looking for someone who wants to improve it. This position works directly with ownership to modernize systems, improve efficiency, develop employees, increase profitability, and help guide the future growth of the company. We're not looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo—we're looking for someone who enjoys finding better ways to operate a business. Your Mission As our General Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation while identifying opportunities to improve nearly every aspect of the business—from customer service and staffing to inventory, technology, marketing, deliveries, and profitability. Primary Responsibilities Lead the daily operations of the store, yard, and delivery team. Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional customer service. Manage employee scheduling to maximize productivity while controlling labor costs. Evaluate, select, and implement a modern point-of-sale (POS) system. Improve business systems, workflows, and operating procedures. Oversee inventory, purchasing, pricing, and vendor relationships. Improve delivery scheduling and operational efficiency. Work directly with ownership on advertising, marketing, and business growth strategies. Monitor sales, margins, expenses, and key performance indicators. Identify opportunities to increase revenue while improving profitability. Help create a business that runs better every month than it did the month before. The Ideal Candidate You'll likely be successful if you have experience in: General management, operations management, or branch management. Building materials, landscape supply, construction supply, wholesale distribution, hardware, or a similar industry. Improving business systems and operational processes. POS systems, inventory control, purchasing, and vendor management. Reading financial reports and using data to make better business decisions. Leading teams with integrity, accountability, and respect. Most importantly, you're someone who sees problems as opportunities and enjoys building systems that make businesses more efficient, more profitable, and more enjoyable for employees and customers alike. Schedule This is a full-time leadership position. Burien Sand & Gravel is open seven days a week , so flexibility is important. The General Manager will be expected to work some Saturdays and Sundays as business needs require.
