Job Description
Job Summary Metro Protection Services is seeking a motivated, professional, and experienced security professional to serve as a Field Training Officer (FTO). This position plays a critical role in mentoring new hires, reinforcing company standards, and supporting field operations. This role is vital in ensuring officers are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to perform their duties effectively and professionally. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to lead by example. Duties Conduct structured field training for newly hired officers Evaluate trainee performance and complete detailed training documentation Ensure adherence to Metro Protection Services policies, procedures, and client expectations Provide coaching, guidance, and corrective instruction as needed Serve as a role model in professionalism, appearance, and conduct Assist supervisors with field operations and incident response Reinforce proper report writing, patrol procedures, and safety practices Identify training gaps and recommend improvements Minimum Qualifications Minimum 4 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience Must possess a current Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Armed Certification at the time of application and maintain it throughout employment Prior Field Training Officer (FTO) experience Demonstrated leadership ability and strong work ethic Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong report writing and documentation skills Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate employees effectively Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience in mobile patrol or multi-site operations Knowledge of company SOPs and client-specific post orders Work Environment Field-based position requiring travel between multiple client sites Regularly works outdoors, including extended periods on foot or in a patrol vehicle Must be comfortable working night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed Exposure to a variety of weather conditions, including rain, cold, heat, and wind Combination of training, evaluation, and operational support duties in dynamic environments
Pay:
$48,000.00 - $51,000.00 per yearBenefits:
