In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the manufacturing workflow from job release through completion, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer deadlines are consistently met. This position is ideal for someone with strong manufacturing experience who is a proven leader, enjoys solving problems, understands machining and fabrication processes, and isn't afraid to work alongside the team when needed. The right candidate will be highly organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and committed to developing employees while continuously improving the way we operate. Responsibilities Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and customer deadlines are consistently met. Oversee the entire manufacturing workflow from job release through completion, ensuring smooth transitions between machining, fabrication, assembly, and finishing operations. Lead, supervise, and support production employees by assigning work, setting expectations, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and feedback. Plan and prioritize production activities based on customer due dates, workload, material availability, shop capacity, and available resources. Develop, implement, and monitor operational processes and procedures to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and overall shop performance. Analyze production workflows, identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions or process enhancements. Work closely with production employees to resolve problems and keep jobs moving efficiently through the shop. Collaborate with quality, engineering, supply chain, estimating, and other departments to resolve operational issues and maintain an efficient production flow. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production performance to evaluate operational effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Work closely with customers and vendors to support production requirements and ensure on-time delivery of materials and finished products. Coordinate with vendors to ensure proper materials are received and manage corrective actions when material, delivery, or quality issues arise. Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, quality standards, and established procedures while actively promoting a safe work environment. Support the training and development of employees to improve skill levels, cross-training, productivity, and overall team performance. Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, waste reduction, workflow improvement, and process optimization. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with 5S principles. Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Promote accountability, teamwork, quality workmanship, and a positive shop culture. Qualifications 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, production management, supervision, or a related manufacturing leadership role preferred. Strong leadership and team-management skills. Experience leading and developing employees in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflow, scheduling, and resource management. Experience with process improvement, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives. Knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements and quality standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple jobs, employees, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience working with an ERP or MRP system preferred. Preferred Experience Previous leadership experience in a precision machining, fabrication, or job shop environment. Hands-on welding, fabrication, or assembly experience. Familiarity with CNC machining and manufacturing processes. Experience with JobBOSS or another manufacturing ERP/MRP system. Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or other process-improvement methodologies. Ability to read and understand blueprints, job travelers, routings, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation. Experience coordinating work across machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and finishing operations. Experience working directly with customers and outside suppliers.
