- Job Description
- The Order Selector works in a mid-sized, organized warehouse as part of a team to accurately pick, move, and prepare inventory for shipment and receiving. This role involves frequent use of forklifts and electric pallet jacks, substantial walking and standing, and regular lifting of materials up to 65 pounds while meeting productivity and accuracy standards.
- Responsibilities
- + Select and pick orders from warehouse shelves based on order sheets and work orders.
+ Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to pull material and inventory from storage locations.
+ Use an electric pallet jack to move pallets and bulk materials safely throughout the warehouse.
+ Lift and move inventory weighing up to 65 pounds repeatedly to support picking and stocking activities.
+ Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to locate, select, scan, and verify materials.
+ Stock, stow, and organize materials in designated locations to maintain an orderly warehouse.
+ Perform inventory control tasks, including RF scanning and cycle counting, to ensure accurate stock levels.
+ Shrink-wrap products and pallets to prepare orders for shipment.
+ Comprehend and follow work orders, pick tickets, and written instructions with attention to detail.
+ Maintain productivity standards, including the ability to lift 65 pounds multiple times within set timeframes.
+ Walk and stand for the majority of the shift while moving throughout the warehouse to pick orders.
+ Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment and handling materials.
- Essential Skills
- + 1-3 years of recent forklift experience, including both sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
+ 1 or more years of recent order picking or order selecting experience in a warehouse environment. + 2-4 years of inventory control experience, including RF scanning or cycle counting.
+ Proficiency operating electric pallet jacks in a warehouse setting.
+ Ability to lift up to 65 pounds repeatedly and meet required productivity standards.
+ Ability to understand, read, and comprehend work orders and order sheets.
+ Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) for order selection and inventory control.
+ General labor experience in a warehouse or material handling environment.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking and verifying orders.
+ Capability to walk and stand for the bulk of the workday in a physically demanding role.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience working with bulk materials in an organized warehouse environment. + Background in shrink-wrapping pallets and preparing orders for shipment. + Comfort working in a union environment with established processes and procedures. + Reliability and consistency in meeting daily productivity and safety expectations. + Ability to work Monday through Friday with limited overtime as needed.

- Work Environment
- The role is based in an organized, mid-sized warehouse handling bulk materials.
The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with limited, if any, overtime and the expectation to work until orders are finished. The position requires extensive walking and standing throughout the warehouse and frequent lifting of up to 65 pounds. Employees regularly operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, electric pallet jacks, RF scanners, and use warehouse management systems to manage inventory and orders. The environment follows union guidelines and emphasizes safety, orderliness, and teamwork, with appropriate work boots required for warehouse safety.

- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $19.
00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
