Job Description

Examines finished rugs to detect soil, assembly, and other manufacturing defects. Inspector will then label and sometimes package rugs by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
Measures length and width of rug to detect variation from specifications. Stacks rugs on table and visually scans to detect defective stitching, loose threads, color variations, and improper variations in tufting construction. Cuts excess threads and trims improper pile height with scissors. Identifies and marks defects. Stacks rugs separately that fail to meet specifications. Records number and type of defects. Folds, rolls and/or bags rugs according to specifications. Examines rugs and compares to photo of standard. Attach appropriate labels and tags and uses label attachment tools. Scans labels on rugs and boxes. Packages rugs in boxes for shipping. Other duties as assigned by management. Education and/or
Experience:
No prior experience or training. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization. Ability to read a tape measure.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, bend, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Note:
Inspectors on carpet occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Equipment used in performing these tasks include swift attach gun (commonly called a sass gun), spray bottle of cleaner/degreaser, a cleaning cloth, brush, scissors, bag machine, and other items as the need determines. The employee is ocassionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
