Order Picker Job Description The Order Picker plays a key role in accurately fulfilling customer orders by picking finished products from warehouse storage locations, preparing them for shipment, and maintaining inventory accuracy. This position operates material handling equipment, uses RF scanners and computer-based systems to process inventory transactions, and supports conveyor operations to ensure efficient product flow. The role also contributes to warehouse cleanliness, assists with inventory control activities, and supports training efforts for other team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Accurately pick customer orders from warehouse storage locations while maintaining product quality and inventory accuracy. Perform order picking activities efficiently to meet productivity and service-level expectations. Process orders through conveyor systems and monitor conveyor operation for proper product flow and to identify and resolve equipment jams. Prepare customer orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, boxing, labeling, and completing all required documentation. Attach packing slips, shipping documentation, and order labels to outbound orders as required. Safely operate forklifts, order pickers, and other material handling equipment in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Complete inventory transactions using RF scanners and computer-based inventory management systems to track material movement in real time. Assist with inventory counts, audits, discrepancy investigations, and other inventory control activities to maintain accurate stock levels. Maintain inventory accuracy by reporting discrepancies, conducting case counts, and completing required paperwork. Build pre-packs and pallet displays according to established instructions and specific customer requirements. Support conveyor operations by monitoring product movement and taking action to clear jams or obstructions when necessary. Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures while working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Maintain clean and organized work areas by removing waste, cardboard, shrink wrap, and damaged materials from warehouse spaces. Support training efforts for new and existing Order Pickers by sharing knowledge of processes, equipment, and safety practices. Complete all paperwork and order documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Work in multiple warehouse work centers as business needs require, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. Essential Skills Experience in order picking within a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Proficiency using RF scanners and warehouse systems to process inventory transactions and track material movement. Ability to safely operate forklifts, order pickers, and other material handling equipment. Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including pallet building, wrapping, boxing, labeling, and documentation. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to obtain forklift and Order Picker certification. Successful completion of the company Order Picker Qualification Checklist. Basic computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Excellent attendance, reliability, and safety awareness. Willingness to work in multiple warehouse work centers as business needs require. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience using RF scanners and computer-based inventory management systems. Experience in shipping, receiving, and pallet building within a manufacturing or warehouse setting. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and general warehouse safety practices. Experience monitoring conveyor operations and resolving product flow issues. Comfort working around moving mechanical parts and motorized vehicles. Ability to work an afternoon and evening shift schedule (3:30 p.m. to midnight). Why Work Here? The position is scheduled on the second shift, running from 3:30 p.m. to midnight, in a fast-paced warehouse setting where safety procedures and proper use of equipment are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ankeny, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48838.00 - $48838.00/yr.
