Job Description
We are a small local business selling unique and vintage items online and shipping them to customers across the country and around the world. We are looking for a reliable, hands-on person to join our shipping and packaging team. This is not just a job putting items into standard boxes. We ship everything from small collectibles to fragile, heavy and oddly shaped items. Sometimes the right box doesn't exist, so we have to modify or build packaging to safely get an item to its new owner. You may be a good fit if you: Enjoy working with your hands and figuring out how things work Like solving practical problems and coming up with your own solutions Are good at looking at an unusual item and figuring out how to protect it Can measure, cut, tape, wrap and build accurately Take pride in doing a job properly Are dependable and able to consistently work the scheduled hours Are comfortable working independently once trained Are physically capable of handling and packaging heavier items What you'll be doing: Packaging sold items for shipment Selecting, modifying and sometimes building boxes and protective packaging Safely wrapping fragile, vintage and unusual items Preparing larger and heavier items for shipment Using cardboard, bubble wrap, foam, packing paper and other materials efficiently Measuring and weighing finished packages Keeping packaging materials and the shipping area organized Learning our methods for safely packing more difficult items Some training will be provided, particularly for our preferred packing methods. However, we are specifically looking for someone who already has a natural ability for this kind of hands-on work and problem solving. Previous professional shipping experience is not required. Practical ability, common sense, reliability and willingness to learn are more important to us than formal qualifications.
