Position Summary:

Operate stamping press machinery and support the inspection, counting, packaging, and labeling of finished parts according to customer specifications, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Punch Press Operator / Parts Packer works closely with Quality, Production, Material Handling, and other team members to maintain production flow, minimize scrap, protect product quality, and ensure parts are properly packaged and prepared for the next stage of production or shipment.

Key ResponsibilitiesPress Operation & Production:

Operate punch press and stamping machinery in accordance with work instructions, production requirements, and safety standards. Support efficient production while maintaining quality and minimizing scrap. Retrieve and handle finished parts from the press and ensure proper flow to the packing or staging area. Accurately enter production and quality data into the PLEX system as directed. Work toward part-specific run efficiency, setup, and production goals. Assist with basic tooling and press equipment maintenance. Identify and communicate production issues, equipment concerns, or process abnormalities to the appropriate personnel.

Quality & Inspection:

Inspect parts during production runs to ensure they meet customer specifications, dimensional requirements, and quality standards. Perform visual inspections for defects such as burrs, deformation, contamination, missing features, or other nonconformances. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators as required. Separate nonconforming product and promptly notify the Press Operator, Quality Department, or Supervisor. Complete quality checks and document results on check sheets or in PLEX. Collaborate with the Quality Department to maintain customer and internal quality requirements.

Parts Packing & Material Preparation:

Pack finished parts using the correct containers, dunnage, orientation, and packaging specifications. Accurately count or weigh parts and verify quantities against production and packaging requirements. Apply and verify proper labels, tags, barcodes, part numbers, lot information, and other required documentation. Stage completed containers for material handling or shipping. Coordinate with the Press Operator regarding container changes, scrap handling, and production flow. Assist with basic material handling, including moving empty bins, dunnage, or scrap containers. Forklift certification may be required in certain areas.

Systems, Documentation & Communication:

Use

PLEX/ERP

systems to verify part, label, production, and quality information. Accurately document production quantities, inspections, quality concerns, and other required information. Communicate effectively with Press Operators, Quality, Supervisors, Material Handling, and other team members. Participate in effective shift handoffs, including communication regarding open containers, quality issues, production concerns, and packaging changes. Assist with training new team members as skills and experience develop. Safety, 5

S & Workplace Standards:

Strictly follow all safety protocols, environmental guidelines, company policies, and work instructions. Follow PPE and lockout/tagout requirements as applicable. Immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment concerns. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles. Maintain proper organization of packaging materials, containers, dunnage, and staging areas. Perform other related duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in manufacturing, stamping, punch press, multislide, warehouse, packing, or material-handling environments preferred. Ability to read and follow work instructions, technical drawings, blueprints, labels, and specifications. Basic math skills for counting, weighing, measurements, and production documentation. Ability to identify visual defects and follow established quality requirements. Ability to use basic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges; optical comparator experience is a plus. Comfort using barcode scanners, production documentation, and ERP systems; PLEX experience is helpful but not required. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Strong communication, reliability, teamwork, and safety awareness. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the production team.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to lift at least 25 lbs., with occasional handling of materials up to 35-50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and move freely throughout the production floor for extended periods. Ability to work with hands and maintain repetitive hand and eye coordination as required. Requires physical mobility, independence, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Exposure to manufacturing conditions including noise, dust, and metal particles. Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Responsibilities and physical requirements may change based on production and operational needs.
