Coffee company seeks part-time Coffee Roaster, packer & shipper with opportunity for full-time
Job Type:
Part-time.Salary :
$18 /hour. Revalued after 3-months' probation period. Invalsa Coffee and Valverde Coffee Roasters is a family-owned, specialty coffee importing and roasting company that purchases high quality coffee directly from small farmers in Latin America & Africa and distributes coffee to specialty roasters and consumers all over the world. Our coffee roastery and distribution center is in Salisbury, at the Crossroads Plaza (Intersection of I 95 and RT 110).Primary Responsibilities :
We are looking for a coffee roaster who will also package and ship our coffee. We want someone who likes coffee and is interested in learning more about coffee roasting. You should be organized, pay attention to detail, and be able to work very well independently. Coffee roasting : We will train you in coffee roasting and in the techniques involved in roasting different coffees, including background information in the production and sourcing of specialty coffee. If you are already a roaster, we will speed you up to our standards. Coffee packaging and shipping require weighing, bagging, and boxing coffee orders of sizes from one to 66 pounds.Key Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. with ease is essential. You will move burlap bags and boxes of coffee up to 70 lbs. by yourself, and up to 132 lb. burlap bags with someone else.
- Ability to learn and use online business platforms including Shopify, Shippo and QuickBooks Online is essential. Word and Excel proficiency is required. Spanish language ability is useful.
- Good customer service skills are important, as you will be responsible for answering the phone, replying to customer inquiries via email, and occasionally interacting with customers who come to pick up coffee.
- Attention to detail is very important as you will be packaging a variety of coffees and equipment on your own, without constant supervision, and must ensure that orders are being shipped correctly.
Compensation:
This is an hourly position, about 20 hours per week, with opportunity for wage increases based on performance and development of job responsibilities. Limited vacation/sick time benefits are provided after six months. Free up to 1 lb. of personal coffee per week. Our work environment is friendly and casual, but we work hard to get the job done! Complimentary daily coffee is provided. This is a great opportunity for college students, as hours are flexible and can be adjusted to meet class schedules. After a probationary 90-day period and based on performance, full-time status including some sales responsibility with increase in compensation will be considered.
