Baisch & Skinner is a wholesale floral distributor based in St. Louis, MO with six branch store locations throughout the Midwest. Importers of fresh cut flowers, permanent botanicals, decoratives, glassware, and floral supplies, Baisch & Skinner is a business-to-business distributor that serves the floral, design, and hospitality industries.
Position Summary:
The Packer employee is responsible for accurately and efficiently packing floral products for customer orders while maintaining product quality, order accuracy, and a clean and organized work area. When packing assignments are complete or business needs require, this position supports the overall operations team by assisting with inventory stocking, cooler organization, cleaning, product movement, and other warehouse activities. This position requires attention to detail, dependability, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled wholesale floral distribution environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Pick, count, inspect, and pack flowers, plants, greens, supplies, and related floral products according to customer orders and established procedures.
  • Verify product type, variety, quantity, quality, and order information before packing.
  • Handle floral products carefully to minimize damage, breakage, dehydration, and product loss.
  • Prepare products for delivery by using appropriate sleeves, boxes, buckets, wrapping materials, labels, and other packaging supplies.
  • Maintain accurate order identification and ensure packed products are placed in the correct staging or delivery area.
  • Report product shortages, damage, quality concerns, and order discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with organizing completed orders for route delivery or customer pickup.
  • Sweep and maintain floors, work areas, cooler areas, aisles and other workspaces.
  • Help stock inventory in the appropriate cooler, warehouse, rack, shelf or storage location.
  • Help maintain proper product placement, labeling and accessibility throughout the warehouse and cooler.
  • Assist with moving boxes, buckets, carts, pallets, floral product, and supplies as needed.
  • Assist other operations team members during busy periods, including order preparation, replenishment, staging, and general warehouse activities.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous warehouse, order fulfillment, or floral handling experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret order tickets and basic instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate heavy work volume.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull between 30 and 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • A significant portion of the shift is spent in industrial coolers maintained between 34°F and 42°F to preserve flower longevity.
  • The environment is frequently wet due to the cleaning of buckets, the use of hydration solutions and the handling of dripping stems
  • Work is in open warehouse spaces with concrete floors, which can be noisy due to cooling fans, compressors, and moving equipment like pallet jacks.
  • The workload is highly seasonal, with high-pressure "crunch" periods during major holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, requiring extended hours and weekend work.
