Position:
Sorter Operator Department:
Production Location:
Tyrone, PA (15 Minutes from Altoona, PA)
Shift:
3rd Shift (9p-7a starting
Monday Night:
4 days - 10 hr Shifts)
Training:
1st Shift for a minimum of one month (Monday through Friday, 7a-3p)

Position Summary:
Responsible for manually inspecting, sorting, and segregating parts to ensure conformance to customer specifications and quality standards. This role supports containment activities by identifying non-conforming material, preventing defects from reaching customers, and maintaining accurate inspection records in accordance with company procedures and applicable quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform manual visual and dimensional inspection of parts to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements Sort and segregate conforming and non-conforming material in designated areas to support containment activities Identify, document, and report non-conforming parts in accordance with established procedures Follow work instructions, inspection criteria, and quality standards for each sorting job or project Use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or go/no-go devices as required Maintain accurate records of inspection results, counts, and discrepancies, including completion of required check sheets or ERP entries Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of inspected material Support rework or repair activities as directed Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area in accordance with 5S standards Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while performing job duties Communicate quality issues, concerns, or unusual findings to supervisors or quality personnel promptly Work collaboratively with team members, inspectors, and leadership to meet production and quality goals
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in manufacturing, inspection, or sorting environment preferred but not required Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply consistent inspection criteria Basic understanding of quality standards and defect identification preferred Ability to use or learn basic measuring tools and inspection equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks Basic math and counting skills for accurate part verification and documentation Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements Must be available to work overtime as needed to support production demands and business needs Work Environment & Physical Requirements Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and industrial lubricants Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the general scope of the position.
