Textile Boxer/Packer Reports To:
Finishing Supervisor Job Summary:
As a Boxer, you will prepare items for shipping by packing them into boxes, labeling them and ensuring they meet shipping requirements in our Shipping Department. Take the initiative, have a positive attitude and strong work ethic, as well as one who pays attention to detail. Must be willing to work some Saturdays and overtime if needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Picking and packing items to be shipped Assembling shipping containers Preparing them for dispatch Selecting the correct packaging materials, accurately labeling packages with relevant information like shipping address and order number Building or assembling shipping boxes or pallets, ensuring they are sturdy and meet shipping regulations Scanning items or updating inventory systems, ensuring accurate record-keeping of materials and shipments Inspecting packages for damage, ensuring they are properly sealed, and identifying any defective items Maintaining records of shipments, including delivery notes, invoices, and other relevant documents Adhering to workplace safety standards, especially when handling heavy or potentially hazardous materials
Skills and Qualifications:
Attention to detail, the ability to notice small details and ensure accuracy in packing and labeling. Following instructions, the ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, including job tickets and safety guidelines. Basic Math Skills, the ability to perform simple calculations for counting and inventory. Teamwork and Communication, the ability to work effectively with supervisors and colleagues. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced manufacturing environment. May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
