Job Description

About Modern Matter Modern Matter is a Virginia Beach-based designer and manufacturer of luxury decorative and architectural hardware. We collaborate with leading designers to create distinctive products using solid brass, natural stone, gemstones, and other premium materials. Because our customers expect an exceptional product, accuracy and attention to detail are important at every stage—from receiving and inspecting materials to assembling, packing, and shipping completed orders. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Kitting & Assembly Specialist to join our Operations team and grow with the company. Position Summary The Kitting & Assembly Specialist supports our production and warehouse operations by assembling products and kits, inspecting finished goods, maintaining accurate inventory, and preparing orders for shipment. The role involves working with small, lightweight components that require careful handling, consistency, and attention to detail. Most assemblies contain five or fewer components and may include tasks such as placing decorative elements into brass products, matching components, and packaging completed items. Key Responsibilities Gather, organize, and assemble components according to product specifications and work instructions. Inspect components and finished products for accuracy, quality, and completeness. Pick, pack, label, and prepare products and kits for shipment. Maintain accurate inventory counts and report shortages or discrepancies. Record completed work and inventory activity in the warehouse management system. Keep workstations, materials, and storage areas clean and organized. Follow established quality-control, safety, and handling procedures. Work with production, inventory, and fulfillment team members to meet daily priorities. Identify opportunities to improve organization, accuracy, and workflow efficiency. Assist with other warehouse, assembly, and fulfillment duties as needed. Qualifications At least one year of experience in small-parts kitting, product assembly, home-goods assembly, or a related role. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Comfortable performing precise and repetitive hands-on work. Ability to follow written instructions and established procedures. Dependable, organized, and able to manage assigned tasks efficiently. Basic computer skills. Experience using a warehouse management system is preferred. Ability to commute reliably to Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
