$21.30Reports to: Kitchen Managers & Head of ProductPosition OverviewKitchen & Market is seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Order Packer to support our commissary kitchen operations. This position will be responsible for accurately packing fresh, frozen, and dry food orders for delivery to all 5 Kitchen & Market stores, with our store network expanding in January 2027.This is a hands-on position that requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, follows packing lists carefully, keeps accurate counts, and makes sure each store receives the correct products and quantities.
The position requires regularly working in walk-in coolers and freezers, as well as dry storage areas. Candidates should be comfortable working in cold environments and able to adapt to changing priorities and daily operational needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesStore Order Packing (70 - 80% of work hours)Pack fresh, frozen, and dry products for delivery to all Kitchen & Market store locations.
Carefully read and follow daily packing lists and store-specific order requirements.
Separate and organize products accurately for each individual store.
Count products carefully and verify quantities before orders leave the commissary.
Double-check orders to ensure products are going to the correct store and that quantities match the packing list.
Identify and communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged products, or other order issues to management.
Maintain organized staging areas so completed orders are clearly separated and ready for delivery.
Properly handle and organize refrigerated, frozen, and dry products according to food safety standards.
Maintain appropriate product rotation and follow FIFO procedures when applicable.
Work efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy, particularly during high-volume days.
Commissary Operations Support (20 - 30% of work hours)Work closely with kitchen, production, receiving, and delivery teams to keep daily store orders moving efficiently.
Help stage completed orders for delivery and assist with loading delivery vehicles when needed.
Assist with organizing coolers, freezers, dry storage, racks, and order staging areas.
Adapt to changes in store orders, quantities, products, and operational priorities.
Assist with holiday and seasonal operations when order volume increases.
Communicate any issues or changes affecting store orders to kitchen leadership promptly.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards throughout all areas where you work.
During slower operational periods, assist with deep cleaning and detailed organization of coolers, freezers, storage areas, racks, and other commissary workspaces.
Perform other reasonable operational duties as assigned by kitchen management.
QualificationsPrevious experience in grocery, warehouse, food production, commissary, order fulfillment, stocking, or similar environments preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written instructions.
Excellent counting and organizational skills.
Ability to accurately separate and organize orders for multiple locations.
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Reliable and punctual with a strong attendance record.
Able to work efficiently without constant supervision and follow through on tasks from start to finish.
Comfortable working in walk-in coolers and freezers for portions of the shift. Appropriate gear will be provided.
Ability to work on your feet and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities and order quantities may change throughout the day.
Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.
