Packager Job Description The Packager plays a key role in warehouse operations by moving and storing inventory in designated locations, picking materials and products for customer orders, and packing items for shipment. This role involves preparing shipments according to specific customer requirements, using RF and barcode scanners or warehouse management systems to perform inventory transactions, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Packager helps keep the warehouse organized and clean, follows safety procedures and standard work instructions, and supports general warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities as needed on a 2nd shift schedule. Responsibilities Move and store inventory in designated warehouse locations in an organized and efficient manner. Pick materials and products accurately to fulfill customer orders according to order specifications. Pack products securely for shipment, ensuring proper protection and presentation. Wrap, band, and label pallets and cartons in line with shipping and customer requirements. Prepare shipments according to customer instructions, including documentation and labeling. Use RF scanners, barcode scanners, and warehouse management systems to process inventory transactions. Perform inventory transactions accurately to maintain up-to-date and reliable inventory records. Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and a tidy work area throughout the shift. Follow all safety procedures, standard work instructions, and company guidelines while performing duties. Support general warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities as needed to meet operational demands. Collaborate with team members to learn new processes and contribute suggestions for improving workflow, speed, and efficiency. Adapt to evolving procedures in a rapidly growing, newly established division and help refine and stabilize processes. Essential Skills 612 months of experience in picking, packing, labeling, and using RF scanners in a warehouse or production environment. Ability to use RF scanners, barcode scanners, and warehouse management systems to complete inventory and shipping tasks. Strong written and verbal communication skills to follow instructions and coordinate with team members. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs safely and repeatedly during the shift. Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate systems and print labels. Attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and inventory transactions. Reliability and consistency in following safety procedures and standard work instructions. Willingness to work 2nd shift hours (11:00 PM end time) and support warehouse operations during that timeframe. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with general production, general labor, and packaging in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. Familiarity with pick, pack, and label workflows in a distribution or fulfillment environment. Experience operating pallet jacks to move pallets and materials safely. Comfort working in a fast-growing, newly established division where processes are still being developed and refined. Ability to remain patient, flexible, and solution-oriented while helping to organize and improve new processes. Interest in contributing ideas and feedback to make operations smoother, quicker, and more efficient. Work Environment The work environment is a clean, well-lit, brand-new facility that has been recently upgraded and continues to receive improvements on a regular basis. The site operates as a new division that is just starting up, with a small team that is expected to expand quickly and ultimately house nearly 100 people within the next 69 months. Early hires should expect that some processes may feel unorganized at first, and they will play an active role in learning, stabilizing, and improving workflows. The role is on 2nd shift with an 11:00 PM end time, and involves working with warehouse technologies such as RF scanners, barcode scanners, warehouse management systems, and pallet jacks in a modern distribution environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.84/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
