1, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday -
FridayLocation:
Stevens Point, WI Reporting Relationship:
Loaders will report to the Department Lead/Shift Supervisor.
General Responsibilities:
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Must be familiar with all shipping documents.
  • Must follow Standard Work Instructions for Loading and Shipping.
  • Load product onto trucks for shipments in such a manner as to maintain stability of the load.
  • Determine proper sequence of loading to eliminate damage to product.
  • Report accurate quantities, materials used and time in MD Link.
  • Read job specs to determine material quantity requirements.
  • Count number of items to be banded to verify number specified on work order.
  • Unwind plastic or metal banding from reel, wrap band around stack or bundle, insert loose end of banding into strapping tool and cinch , crimp and clamp banding material with strapping tool to secure items for shipping.
  • Count and record number of banded bundles.
  • Prepare and apply lumber and other reinforcement material to protect bundles during shipment or storage.
  • Manually stack bundled articles on pallet.
  • Wrap protective material around bundled product making sure it is sealed.
  • Weigh and label products by marking size of article, customer name, order number, address and other identifying data on visible portion of bundle or shipping ticket.
  • Pack special arrangements of product.
  • Move product into proper storage areas.
  • Have a favorable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as outlined in SOP Fleet Policy for driving company owned vehicles.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Forklift Certification-to be provided by Steel King.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Apply skills to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Satisfactorily perform essential duties.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure including fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasionally sitting, climbing or balancing.
  • Regularly exposed to moving, mechanical parts.
  • Requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust your focus.
  • Must properly follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures including wearing and utilizing the proper PPE required of this position.
