The Opportunity This position is an onsite opportunity within the Abbott Diabetes Care Division in Alameda, California. We are helping people with diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Continuous glucose monitoring is transforming diabetes management, and our Procurement team plays a critical role in enabling innovation, supply continuity, and cost competitiveness across our portfolio. As a Capital Procurement Manager , you will be responsible for supporting capital equipment expansion, developing and implementing the capital procurement category strategy, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and cross functional collaboration. This role works in close collaboration with global Operations and Engineering teams to strategically forecast automation and assembly equipment needs in support of the goals and objectives of the business. Up to 20% travel, including domestic and international This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA. What You'll Work On Build relationships with key suppliers and maintain regular leadership communications, serving as the main point of contact for all commercial discussions. In close collaboration with Operations and Engineering, develop and implement the global Capital strategy. Negotiate value for ADC to include commercially favorable terms (reduced cost, shorter lead times, improved quality). Support overall program management to ensure Capital purchases are delivered on time and on budget. Develop an understanding of the automation landscape, including top suppliers, best practices, largest customers, and new technologies. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree, preferably in related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience within procurement and/or supply chain management. Thorough understanding of the capital equipment market, industry standards, and key players within the relevant sectors. Effectively collaborates with internal stakeholders to include engineers, project managers, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with project needs. Ensures adherence to company policies, legal regulations, and Procurement guidelines. Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills. Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with capital procurement, such as supplier performance, market fluctuations, and regulatory compliance. Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management. Effective skills to build relationships and productively interface with all levels of the Business. Strong negotiating skills and experience. Led at least one major, international deal, preferred. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree, MBA, or Masters of Engineering 2-3 years' experience managing suppliers; Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) experience. Project Management experience. International leadership - led global teams or led a global project.
