The successful candidate develops and manages purchasing department employees, policies, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance with both internal and external standards. This role is responsible for the selection and negotiation of contracts with vendors, as well as the monitoring and management of all purchased materials and services. Purchasing Director Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures Develop and manage the purchasing budget Monitor and manage inventory levels Monitor and analyze purchasing trends Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers Evaluate vendor performance Supervise purchasing staff Purchasing Director Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field 5+ years of experience in Metals purchasing Knowledge of purchasing principles, policies, and procedures Able to analyze financial data and make sound business decisions Strong negotiation and communication skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business administration or finance or related field is desired. Previous Metals buying experience Excellent organizational skills to deal with department heads, vendors, accounting department, and senior management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
