$55,000-$68,000 per year, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus 90-day launch position: $25-$32 per hour, depending on experience About Gardens of Arcadia Gardens of Arcadia is an Indiana flower farm specializing in premium, fragrant garden roses. We are expanding our seasonal farm business into a year-round floral retail, delivery, subscription, corporate, and event operation. Our new Floral Studio will offer locally grown Gardens of Arcadia roses during the growing season and premium flowers sourced from established wholesalers throughout the rest of the year. We already have a commercial location, an experienced floral team, local delivery capability, marketing and business development support, and an established flower farm. We are seeking an experienced floral industry professional to help us launch and operate the business successfully. About the Position This is primarily an operations and purchasing position—not a traditional floral designer role. The Floral Operations & Purchasing Manager will help establish our wholesale supplier network, product assortment, pricing systems, inventory controls, operating procedures, and holiday purchasing plans. The successful candidate will work closely with ownership, our florists, and our marketing team. This position may be structured as either a permanent full-time role or an initial 90-day launch position, depending on the candidate's experience and availability. The 90-day position may transition into permanent full-time employment based on performance and mutual fit. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced floral shop manager, floral buyer, grocery floral manager, floral business owner, wholesale floral professional, or senior floral operations professional who understands both flowers and business. Key Responsibilities Purchasing and Supplier Management Identify and develop relationships with reliable flower wholesalers, growers, and other suppliers Maintain multiple dependable supply sources Negotiate pricing, minimum orders, delivery schedules, payment terms, and purchasing procedures Plan purchasing for everyday inventory, special orders, and major floral holidays Develop backup sourcing options for periods of limited availability Retail Operations Help organize and launch the Gardens of Arcadia Floral Studio Establish procedures for ordering, receiving, processing, storing, producing, selling, and delivering floral products Determine practical cooler inventory levels Implement inventory, spoilage, and waste-control systems Create operating procedures that can be followed consistently by our existing team Products and Pricing Work with our florists to develop an initial menu of approximately 10-15 core products Establish repeatable floral recipes and substitution guidelines Calculate flower, material, and labor costs Recommend retail pricing and target gross margins Help create a focused and profitable product assortment Sales Support and Account Development Help develop sales opportunities through local delivery, online ordering, subscriptions, corporate accounts, weddings, events, hospitality, sympathy flowers, and holiday orders Work with our marketing and business development team to create recurring weekly and biweekly corporate floral accounts Help evaluate the profitability of different sales and delivery channels Holiday Planning Develop practical purchasing, pricing, production, and inventory plans for major floral holidays and seasons, including: Thanksgiving and Christmas Valentine's Day Easter and Mother's Day Prom and graduation season Team Training Train and support our existing team in: Professional floral purchasing Inventory and waste control Product costing and pricing Supplier management Holiday preparation Commercial floral operations Initial Priorities During the first 90 days, the successful candidate will focus on: Establishing qualified wholesale suppliers Creating the initial product assortment Implementing product costing and pricing systems Establishing purchasing, receiving, inventory, and waste-control procedures Supporting the launch of the Floral Studio Creating a holiday purchasing calendar Developing an initial corporate floral program Training the existing team Qualifications Five or more years of meaningful commercial floral industry experience preferred Direct experience purchasing perishable floral inventory Experience with floral retail operations, inventory management, pricing, or margin control Working knowledge of major floral holiday purchasing and production cycles Strong organizational and practical problem-solving skills Ability to work hands-on in a developing business Ability and willingness to teach systems and processes to others Experience with corporate floral accounts, weddings and events, delivery operations, grocery floral departments, or wholesale floral sales is highly desirable. Existing relationships with wholesalers, growers, importers, florists, or event professionals are a plus. Knowledge of the Central Indiana or Midwest floral market is especially valuable.
