Job Description

Position Summary The Purchasing Manager oversees and directs the activities of the purchasing department to ensure the timely, cost-effective procurement of materials, supplies, and services in support of business operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee negotiations with vendors for good and services, ensuring the best possible price and service guarantee Oversees timely receiving and inventory movement Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions. Strategically deploys resources for optimal cost and service results Prepare capacity plans to support peak fluctuations in business volumes; anticipate risks and devise contingency plans to accommodate for changes in circumstances Identifies and implements best practices for supply chain and logistics management.
This includes:
o procuring parts timely o sourcing from the correct ("preferred" suppliers when possible) suppliers o buying parts at the correct ("contracted") price o procuring material in the correct quantities o ensuring components are delivered on time Assesses current material availability and reasonably forecast future availability based on the market conditions, delivery systems, and other variables. Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment. Develops, communicates, and implements purchasing policies, procedures, and instructions related to purchasing and contract management. Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids. Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems. Acts as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers. Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus or obsolete materials. Administers the departmental budget. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Solid understanding of business and management principles. Thorough knowledge of materials and supplies used in the company. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. At least three years of experience in related field required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs. May require travel.

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
