Position Summary The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly. You will lead sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, inventory planning, and cost reduction efforts while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Sales. Success in this role means having the right materials available at the right time, building strong supplier partnerships, improving purchasing processes, and helping the company operate more efficiently and profitably. What You'll Own Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Partnerships Build and maintain a strong supplier network that delivers quality, reliability, competitive pricing, and consistent performance. Develop backup sourcing strategies for critical materials. Spend Visibility & Cost Reduction Understand where purchasing dollars are being spent, identify opportunities to reduce costs, and deliver measurable savings through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations. Material Planning & Availability Ensure materials are available to support production and service schedules while balancing inventory levels and minimizing stockouts, excess inventory, and expedited purchases. Purchasing Systems, Processes & Controls Own purchasing processes, supplier records, and ERP purchasing workflows while driving accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. Cross-Functional Partnership & Market Intelligence Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Sales to support business decisions, identify supply chain risks, and provide market insight that helps protect margins and improve planning. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day purchasing activities for production and service operations. Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships. Monitor supplier performance and address quality, delivery, or pricing concerns. Develop inventory and replenishment strategies that support production schedules. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities. Analyze purchasing and inventory data to support decision-making. Partner with Engineering on new products, materials, and supplier selection. Maintain purchasing data and ERP system accuracy. Track and report purchasing KPIs and supplier performance metrics. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business. What We're Looking For 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a similar environment. Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships. Strong understanding of inventory management and material planning. ERP system experience; Sage experience is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Ability to work effectively across multiple departments. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
