Job Description
Position Summary The Procurement Manager is a working leader responsible for purchasing, inventory, inventory control, vendor relationships and educating oneself on current and frequently purchased electrical equipment. Manage new and improved electrical products related to electrical switchboards and power distribution equipment. This role balances material purchases and functionality of electrical components. Work closely with Engineering on product specifications, bill of materials, evolving of new and improved products and travel to onsite visits of current electrical vendors businesses to learn and stay current on new developed electrical products. Maintaining scheduling, quality, inventory control, and inventory oversight for a busy, team-oriented shop environment. Key Responsibilities Supply Chain Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production Developing risk management procedures and inventory levels of frequently purchased products to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages Supervising the warehouse & employees and delegating tasks for work in progress and for new projects Manage supplier relationships Oversee the procurement process from purchase requests to final delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify risks, opportunities and cost saving initiatives Technical Oversight & Compliance Ensure all products comply with UL or NEC standards when applicable Interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, layouts, and bills of material Verify correct component choices and communicate with vendors for latest technology Serve as the secondary shop liaison for all materials needed for completion of product manufacturing Material distribution Support a team of approximately 15 panel builders and electricians with maintaining material & products on time deliveries Maintain supplier accountability Monitor product inventory levels and place additional orders according to customer demand Responsible for maintaining up to date delivery schedule and communication with management Maintain & organize inventory levels and inventory control monthly Manage inbound and outbound freight Communication & Coordination Communicate frequently with President of production status of ordered parts, delays and deliveries Coordinate and work closely with engineering department for product information and recognize new technologies and offerings Work closely with estimating department with current cost of products and availability Qualifications Required 3+ years of hands-on experience preferred but not required. Experience with purchasing electrical materials or similar power distribution equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, and layout drawings Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical products and functionality of products for walk in business Strong knowledge of electrical industries and markets and have the ability to negotiate products cost and sale. Fluid using windows base software for reports, emails and drawing access Preferred UL 891 and/or UL 508A products experience Experience and knowledge of
