Purchasing Manager Posted on May 12, 2025 May 12, 2025 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Purchasing Manager to oversee and centralize all purchasing activities for our ice rinks. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic management of sourcing and procurement efforts across multiple locations, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timeliness in all purchased goods and services. The successful candidate will be skilled in negotiation, vendor relations, and process optimization, with the ability to manage RFPs, track budgets, and conduct thorough market analysis. Position Responsibilities Centralize Purchasing Activities Oversee and coordinate purchasing for all ice rinks, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Develop Purchasing Strategies Lead the development of strategies to ensure cost savings, product availability, and timely delivery, adjusting as market demands change. Vendor Management & Negotiation Source suppliers, negotiate pricing, and establish contracts while maintaining strong supplier relationships for consistent quality and supply. RFP Management Manage the RFP process, from drafting specifications to evaluating bids and awarding contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies. Budget & Cost Control Track and report on purchasing budgets, implementing cost-saving measures without sacrificing quality. Market Research Monitor market trends and new suppliers to maintain competitive advantage and assess new product impact. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure purchasing activities comply with policies and regulations, identifying risks and mitigating supply chain issues. Reporting & Documentation Maintain records of purchasing transactions and contracts, providing regular reports on performance to management. Prerequisites 5+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably in multi-unit retail businesses or facilities management. Expertise in sourcing, evaluating, and managing vendors across multiple locations with strong procurement and contract knowledge. Proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and quality outcomes. Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and lead projects effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to adjust to changing conditions and vendor capabilities in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel to locations for operational oversight and vendor meetings. Certifications (Preferred, but not Required) Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field is a plus. Certifications like Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) are a plus.
