Company Overview:
Since 1960, Viking-Cives has manufactured a wide range of truck equipment that makes snowy and icy roads safe for individuals, families, school buses, etc. We specialize in customizing snow and ice removal equipment for heavy municipal, county, and state trucks by installing a variety of specialized equipment. You may never have heard of us, but you have seen our trucks on the road as they make our snowy and icy roads safer for you, your family, and your friends. Our brand-new manufacturing and installation facility is opening in Battle Creek, Michigan (Viking-Cives Great Lakes Division). We are the fourth division in a growing corporation with locations across the United States and Canada.
Job Summary:
As our Purchasing Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager, who has been with the corporation for 20+ years. You will collaborate with seasoned managers from other Viking-Cives divisions as well. Your experience with continuous improvement will be a vital asset. Best of all, we are a fully employee-owned company where we work together as a team to build a successful and profitable business. Responsibilities Purchasing raw materials, equipment for up fitting trucks, receiving and sending orders Managing inventory and cost Collaborating with production, engineering, and sales departments Occasional travel out of state - initially for company trainings Other duties and responsibilities as required; we are a Team, and we support each other. Qualifications Versatile interpersonal and written communication skills Prior experience and passion for building a high performing and engaged team Positive, professional, and poised at all times - advancing through each challenge Training and expertise in purchasing or supply chain management Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Experience with ERP systems, preferably Infor CSI Formal training and/or experience in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing Strong time management and organizational skills 8+ years of progressively responsible experience, within the manufacturing or truck equipment industries 5+ years advanced level experience within production or purchasing HS diploma or GED is required Preferred consideration for candidates with a college degree in supply chain management, and/or skilled trades certification Next steps: We encourage you to check out our website for more information about our history and growth at www.vikingcives.com.
