This position is responsible for ensuring that projects have the right materials, at the right price and quality, delivered to the right location and on schedule. The ideal candidate understands commercial construction purchasing, has strong supplier relationships, is highly organized, and can effectively balance cost, quality, availability, and project deadlines. Key Responsibilities Manage purchasing activities for commercial drywall and construction projects. Source, negotiate, and purchase drywall materials, including gypsum board, metal framing, insulation, fasteners, corner bead, finishing materials, and related products. Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and subcontracted suppliers. Obtain and compare pricing, quotes, lead times, freight costs, and availability. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other purchasing agreements. Review project plans, specifications, material takeoffs, and schedules to anticipate purchasing needs. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendents, and Field Operations. Track material orders from purchase through delivery and resolve shortages, delays, damages, or discrepancies. Maintain accurate purchase orders, pricing records, vendor information, and purchasing documentation. Monitor material pricing and market conditions and identify opportunities for cost savings. Ensure materials meet project specifications and company quality standards. Coordinate deliveries to jobsites while minimizing delays, excess inventory, and material waste. Assist with inventory management and maintain appropriate stock levels for commonly used materials. Evaluate supplier performance and identify new vendors when necessary. Review invoices and assist with resolving pricing or quantity discrepancies. Support project teams in managing material budgets and controlling purchasing costs. Establish and maintain purchasing procedures and systems that improve efficiency and accountability. Perform other duties related to purchasing and procurement as needed. Qualifications 3-5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in commercial construction; drywall experience is a plus Experience negotiating pricing and terms with building-material suppliers and distributors. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Preferred Experience Commercial drywall or interior systems experience. Experience purchasing materials for large commercial projects. Knowledge of material lead times, freight, delivery logistics, and jobsite requirements. Experience analyzing purchasing data and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Reduction of material shortages, waste, and emergency purchases. Effective communication with project and field teams. Adherence to project budgets and company purchasing procedures.
