PreciseSource, a nationwide search firm, is currently interviewing candidates for the role of Purchasing Manager to join our client, a rapidly growing wellness manufacturer based in the Millville/Vineland, NJ area. This role reports to the COO and will oversee all purchasing and sourcing for the specialized manufacturing company that has continued to grow over the last 25 years. This is a full-time, on-site role offering a competitive salary, annual bonus opportunity, tremendous career growth and great benefits. Experience sourcing raw materials, food products, ingredients, or pharma would be preferred. Local candidates ideally as no relocation assistance is available at the moment.
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all sourcing activities at the company with a main focus on contract manufacturers, ingredients vendors, packaging materials vendors and production materials; Conducting RFP's to assess capabilities, quality and pricing; Onboarding contract manufacturers and vendors by developing, maintaining and training on procedures; Sending and managing fulfillment of purchase orders
Responsibilities:
Sourcing Source the best quality comans, ingredients, packaging (labels, bottles, caps, inner seals, tamper bands, boxes, etc), and production materials (drums, bags, PPE, etc). Lead sourcing of vendors/services for other teams as requested Conduct RFP's for new vendors and create professional relationships with new and existing vendors to ensure best results Analyze responses and develop recommendation for future vendors Plan and execute new vendor transitions with production and quality teams Coordinate artwork transitions and press checks with design team and vendors Manage quality assurance of all transitioning ingredients and materials. Monitor commodity markets and make informed decisions Purchasing Place PO's for materials in a timely manner with clear instruction for each vendor Ensure on time delivery of ordered materials meeting quality specifications Validate that all items meet specifications and quantity Manage potential transitions Establish the goal for the potential transition along with its scope and budget Identify the key stakeholders Gather and understand the required specifications Create the RFP outlining the specifications, the required financial strength of the vendors, and key deadlines for the vendors Analyze responses received from vendors Negotiate pricing Communicate regularly the progress of the project to the key stakeholders Present final findings to key stakeholders and gain their support Establish a transition plan with the key stakeholders Manage the transition plan Budgeting Forecast and report out sourcing spend Perform spend analysis and review it with senior management
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement Develop a business case and drive execution of the approved improvement Implement best practices and lessons learned. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of sourcing/purchasing experience in a nutraceutical/pharma/food industry Bachelor's degree from a four-year college required; Strong leadership, relationship building and communication skills Must be able to facilitate meetings with senior functional leads High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point Strong organizational, prioritization, and detail oriented A self-starter who takes initiative Ability to travel at least 10% of the time NetSuite experience a plus
