  • 100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications About the Opportunity Rudco Products, Inc.
, a fifth-generation, family-owned American manufacturing company established in 1931, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manage r to take ownership of our purchasing function and play an important role in our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on management position for an experienced purchasing professional who understands manufacturing, knows how to negotiate with suppliers, can anticipate material requirements, and takes responsibility for ensuring production has the materials it needs—when it needs them and at the right cost. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with company leadership, operations, production, engineering, and plant management. This position will have significant responsibility and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on purchasing costs, inventory levels, supplier performance, and overall manufacturing efficiency. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the department, build strong supplier relationships, identify cost-saving opportunities, and help continuously improve our purchasing and supply-chain processes. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage purchasing of steel, raw materials, components, parts, and manufacturing supplies
  • Take ownership of the purchasing process from quotation and negotiation through delivery
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, freight, and supply agreements
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers
  • Monitor steel and raw material markets and proactively communicate pricing trends and potential impacts
  • Solicit competitive bids and identify opportunities to reduce material and purchasing costs
  • Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules at our manufacturing facilities
  • Manage open purchase orders and proactively follow up on late or at-risk deliveries
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels while reducing excess and obsolete inventory
  • Work closely with operations and production to forecast material requirements
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance related to pricing, quality, service, and on-time delivery
  • Resolve supplier issues involving shortages, quality, pricing, and delivery
  • Review purchasing and inventory data and provide management with meaningful information and recommendations
  • Develop and improve purchasing procedures, controls, and reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory, and supply-chain efficiencies
  • Use sound judgment and purchasing expertise to make recommendations and decisions regarding suppliers, pricing, inventory levels, and purchasing priorities What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an experienced purchasing or procurement professional who is comfortable taking ownership, making decisions, solving problems, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Qualifications
  • 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply-chain experience preferred
  • Manufacturing purchasing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience purchasing steel, raw materials, fabricated components, or similar commodities is highly desirable
  • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to manage supplier relationships
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and manufacturing requirements
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Ability to anticipate potential problems and take action before they impact production
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated experience using an ERP/MRP system to manage purchasing, inventory, and material requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management, plant management, engineering, production, and vendors
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with multiple departments Compensation & Benefits
