Job Description

Bluebird Mountain Sports is an independent outdoor retailer, specializing in winter sports, with locations in Taos Ski Valley, Santa Fe, Angel Fire and Salida. The primary function of a Category Manager is to take ownership of all facets related to the products and services in their category. The Ski and Bootfitting Category Manager is responsible for setting, maintaining, and continually elevating company-wide standards for product knowledge and sales of skis and boots, across all Bluebird Mountain Sports locations. This role ensures consistent knowledge across the entire company, positioning the company's expertise as a core competency, not simply treating customer interactions as transactional. Key Responsibilities Training retail associates in products, sales techniques, and bootfitting best practices Developing on-going training materials for reference by staff Working with store management and retail supervisors to ensure expectations are set and met by retail associates Assist in creating videos and photos to use in marketing and training Regular travel between locations to validate staff knowledge and re-train as necessary Build relationships with ski teams, suppliers, reps, etc. Oversee Retail Department's involvement with the rental and service departments on repairs and warranties for customer and company equipment Complete company buys, within budget, and submit to vendors, utilizing internal and external data to inform decisions Aware of company inventory, proactively assisting the stores in coordinating product movement to fill holes and prioritize where product is selling best Assist in coordinating consumer demo days Qualifications Extensive, hands-on bootfitting experience and ski product knowledge Proven ability to train, mentor and evaluate staff Significant organization, communication and documentation skills Comfortable leading presentations and training sessions at all levels of the organization Customer-focused mindset, with a strong understanding of service-driven sales Benefits Offered Paid time off (PTO) 401(k) match

$62,500.00 per year
