Job Description
The Senior Procurement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing procurement activities, supplier performance, and operational support to respond to Requests for Quotes and Customer Orders across assigned programs. This role ensures that customer expectations are met or exceeded, sourcing strategies are executed effectively, and internal teams receive accurate and timely information to support operational success. The position requires strong leadership, analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. The Lead also supervises staff involved in procurement and contract operations, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to best practices. Responsibilities 1. Ensure expectations of assigned customer accounts and contracts are met or exceeded. Maintain formal ongoing communication and satisfaction with assigned customers. Respond to complaints and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Advise supervisor of opportunities and threats within assigned accounts or contracts. 2. Serve as the senior subject-matter expert on all assigned procurement responsibilities, including sourcing strategies, supplier performance expectations, and operational requirements. Provide guidance to staff and act as the primary resource for accurate, timely information needed to support ongoing operations and informed decision-making. 3. Train and mentor staff involved in procurement, purchasing, and contract support activities to ensure competency, accuracy, and adherence to best practices. 4. Oversee the development, maintenance, and dissemination of performance metrics for all assigned contracts, ensuring KPI alignment and using data-driven insights to guide procurement strategy, supplier performance management, and executive-level decision-making. 5. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all procurement activities related to Customer Requests for Quotes (RFQs), including developing accurate cost proposals, identifying and recommending suitable product substitutions, sourcing new products as needed, and establishing new suppliers when necessary to ensure competitive pricing, product availability, and compliance with contract requirements. 6. Responsible for the upkeep, accuracy, and ongoing maintenance of all procurement-related ISO documentation, including the ISO quote sheet and any required updates, revisions, or process changes. 7. Provide and maintain all information required for contract maintenance and modifications, including but not limited to product and service SKUs, Scope of Work (SOW) documentation, and Performance Work Statements (PWS), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates to support operational and customer requirements. 8. Develop and maintain suppliers who provide acceptable levels of quality, delivery, cost, and customer service, resulting in a dependable supply of goods and services to satisfy contract requirements, while negotiating the most advantages terms, pricing, and conditions for the company. 9. Provide contract-specific purchasing functions, including materials requirement planning and issuing purchase orders, for assigned contracts by determining associated order points and quantities. 10. Manage product offering changes, additions, and deletions with both the customer and Operations, ensuring effective phase-out, obsolescence, and phase-in planning to maintain continuity, accuracy, and alignment with contractual and operational requirements. 11. Identify and mitigate risks related to supply continuity, supplier reliability, material shortages, and contract performance, escalating issues when necessary. 12. Collaborate with production and warehouse leadership to develop and maintain operational plans and schedules that support customer requirements and proactively communicate changes to material delivery dates to all affected departments to ensure alignment and continuity of operations. 13. Lead continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and operations, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, improve accuracy, and enhance service levels. 14. Leverage the technical and market expertise of suppliers to enhance the company's offerings and expand our customer base. 15. Participate in corrective action and root-cause investigations for non-conformances in contract-related products, processes, and service. 16. Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and audit expectations related to procurement, inventory, and contract operations. 17. Comply with safety policies and procedures for safety of self and others. 18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field and ten (10) years purchasing experience in dynamic mixed-mode manufacturing or distribution companies, or a combination of education and work experience substantially equivalent to the above. MBA or U.S. Military experience preferred. Demonstrated experience supervising and leading staff, including assigning work, setting performance expectations, providing coaching and feedback, conducting evaluations, and supporting professional development. Proven ability to manage workloads, resolve conflicts, foster collaboration, and maintain a positive, high-performing team environment. Hands-on experience with vendor evaluation and management, project management, product management, negotiation strategies, and performance metrics. ERP/MRP and/or WMS demand planning systems experience. Current or prior experience working with military or defense-grade equipment, military service, or a comparable security-focused operational environment. Demonstrated ability to manage or oversee programs exceeding $50 million, including budget oversight, compliance, and performance accountability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with MS Office products. Must have a valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and have and maintain a driving record in accordance with Human Technologies' Liability/Automotive Insurance carrier. Must pass any required federal, state, municipality, and/or customer-specific background checks. As per NYS Law, the full salary range is $102,997.48- $145,408.20 per year.
