Contract with potential for conversion Position Overview We have a contract opportunity with our client in Columbus for an experienced Procurement Manager
•Major Projects to serve as the primary Procurement partner for large-scale generation and/or transmission capital projects. Embedded within the project team, this senior individual contributor will lead procurement integration across materials, equipment, services, construction, supplier capacity, sourcing, and contracting activities . The Procurement Manager will work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Contracts teams to ensure procurement activities remain aligned with critical project milestones. This role is ideal for a procurement professional with experience supporting major capital projects, EPC programs, utilities, energy, power generation, transmission, infrastructure, or large industrial construction projects . Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary Procurement liaison and point of coordination for assigned major capital projects. Develop, maintain, and drive the integrated project procurement plan , aligning procurement activities with engineering, construction, commissioning, and overall project schedules. Translate project schedules and business objectives into coordinated sourcing, contracting, supplier, material, and procurement execution plans. Establish clear accountability, decision-making paths, and escalation processes for procurement risks and issues. Identify and communicate procurement readiness, critical risks, mitigation strategies, and key decisions to project and executive leadership. Coordinate execution across Procurement, Supply Chain, Category Management, Sourcing, Contracts, Engineering, Project Controls, Construction, Logistics, and other stakeholders. Represent project material and supplier-capacity requirements within Generation and/or Transmission portfolio planning activities. Maintain procurement dashboards and risk registers covering project milestones, supplier capacity, material status, commercial issues, actions, and decisions. Partner with Procurement teams to address supplier performance, capacity constraints, commercial considerations, and category strategies. Anticipate supply chain risks related to manufacturing lead times, supplier capacity, contracting, materials, and project schedules. Leverage analytics, systems, and continuous improvement practices to improve sourcing effectiveness, contract visibility, supplier performance, and project outcomes. Lead complex cross-functional initiatives through influence in a highly matrixed environment. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience combinations: Bachelor's degree in a related field + 8 years of relevant experience Associate's degree in a related field + 10 years of relevant experience High School Diploma/GED + 12 years of relevant experience Additionally, candidates should have: Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives without direct authority. Strong knowledge of procurement, contracting, supplier management, supply markets, manufacturing lead times, and delivery assurance . Experience supporting large capital projects within utilities, energy, generation, transmission, infrastructure, industrial, engineering, construction, or similar environments . Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to communicate project risks, procurement readiness, and critical decisions effectively to senior and executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting generation, transmission, utility, energy, EPC, or infrastructure capital projects . Experience with procurement activities supporting projects exceeding $100M in capital investment . Knowledge of project controls, critical-path scheduling, construction sequencing, and commissioning . PMP, CPSM, CPSD, SCM, or similar professional certification. Experience working within matrixed and portfolio-based organizations. Important Details This is an onsite position in downtown Columbus, Ohio . Candidates must be local and willing to work onsite. The position has the potential to convert to a permanent opportunity . Candidates must be able to work without current or future employment sponsorship.
Pay:
From $60.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
