Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Purchasing Manager in the Chemical industry to lead our procurement operations and optimize supply chain processes. The ideal candidate will oversee inventory management, vendor relations, contract negotiations, and procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials . This role requires a strong understanding of ERP systems, procurement regulations, and cross-functional collaboration to support manufacturing, logistics, and overall business objectives. The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in driving efficiency, quality, and innovation within our supply chain. Responsibilities Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company goals, focusing on category management and strategic sourcing. Manage procurement activities using ERP systems such as QB or NetSuite, including purchase order creation, confirmation management, raw materials tracking, and reporting. Responsible for finished/raw materials forecasting, vendor spend management and supplier relationship management to foster reliable partnerships. Conduct market research and root cause analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, quality management, and production planning to coordinate sourcing needs. Manage procurement categories including materials management, pricing strategies, and supply chain logistics to support production schedules. Ensure compliance with chemical procurement policies and regulatory standards, including
USMCA, DOT
& International trade activities. Develop and monitor supplier performance metrics to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency. Skills Extensive experience with ERP systems such as QB, Datacor or NetSuite for procurement management. Strong contract negotiation skills with expertise in procurement contract management and vendor negotiations. Proficiency in Chemical category management, and supply chain management principles- to include chemical manufacturing processes. Knowledge of chemical procurement regulatory standards applicable to public sector purchasing or private industry. Ability to utilize procurement tools like MRP systems. Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams on complex initiatives. Analytical skills includes root cause analysis for supply chain issues and pricing optimization. Strong communication skills for effective negotiation and stakeholder engagement across departments. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, logistics coordination, materials management, and production planning is highly advantageous.
