Job Description
Our client, a major design-build engineering firm, is seeking Electrical Buyers to support Senior Buyers in executing procurement for large-scale, mission-critical construction projects. This role is embedded directly on-site at major projects, including hyperscale data center campuses, where procurement plays a critical role in schedule, cost, and execution success. This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional distributor purchasing into end-to-end project procurement ownership , with increasing responsibility over planning, execution, and vendor strategy. Key Responsibilities Procurement Execution Support Senior Buyers in sourcing and purchasing electrical materials (switchgear, breakers, conduit, cable, etc.) Execute purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure order accuracy Coordinate with vendors to manage lead times, shortages, and logistics Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP systems Procurement Planning & Ownership Develop project procurement plans aligned with construction schedules and milestones Execute procurement plans to ensure timely material availability Own site-level procurement activities from planning through execution Support end-to-end procurement lifecycle from estimate through installation Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management Assist in developing long-term agreements (LTAs) with key electrical suppliers Support pricing strategy, cost control, and vendor negotiations Help identify and qualify alternate suppliers during constraints Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support project delivery Project Integration Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams Align procurement activities with construction sequencing and site needs Proactively identify risks (lead times, cost increases, supply issues) and drive solutions Required Qualifications Experience purchasing electrical materials (distributor or similar environment preferred) Familiarity with electrical products and supply chains Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience working for an electrical distributor (Graybar, Wesco, Rexel, Sonepar, etc.) Exposure to construction or project-based procurement Understanding of large-scale project logistics
