Program Manager - Fishing for STEAM Req #952 Sealaska Heritage Institute, 105 Heritage Way, Suite 201, Juneau, Alaska, United States of America Apply Share Job Description Posted Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 4:00 AM Job Summary The objective of the STEAM Program Manager is to develop, oversee, and deliver Indigenous Science-based STEAM resources and educator professional development for the Fishing for STEAM project serving middle school students and educators. This position will require collaboration with schools, district administration, local scientists, and additional community partners. Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workloads including but not limited to leading the educator community of practice (CoP). Duties/Responsibilities Recruit and support middle school educators in forming a CoP for culturally engaged math and science Curriculum development Coordinate and deliver the Canvas course for CoP professional development and meetings Develop community-based experiences and projects with COP cohorts while creating curriculum units Co-develop and deliver culturally engaged math and science Curriculum content and teacher professional development for the Fishing for STEAM Symposium Support travel opportunities for STEAM middle school math and science programs. Participate in communities of practice and learning groups designed to increase Alaska Native student expectancy in STEAM research and teacher professional development. Other duties as assigned Required Skills Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop culturally sustaining research and teacher professional development experiences. Experience with comprehensive program development and implementation Demonstrated ability to assist to coordinate activities with attention to detail Technical capacity to gather, manage, and analyze pre/post participation survey data Knowledge of Southeast Alaska Native culture and Southeast Alaska's communities Supervisory Responsibility This position will have no direct reports. Work Environment This position's duties are performed at the Indigenous Science Building. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate. This position will require sitting at a desk and using a computer mouse and keyboard. The position may also require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds. About this Role This is a full-time benefited position. SHI employees are expected to work during SHI's regular business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Additionally, employees may work up to or over 45 hours per week or additional time as needed to meet workload demands or special events such as Celebration. There will be periodic travel to partner communities in SE Alaska is required. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field. 2 years of professional work in project management and program coordination. Previous experience developing teacher professional development and/or student centered research programs. Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders including Alaska Native students and families.
