Special Events:

Responsible for planning and coordinating City Wide special events working with various vendors, marketing, and assisting with creating the budget. This includes working with non-profit organizations, handling the co-sponsorship program, outside rentals, and other related duties.

• Coordinate programs and services that support social, recreational, and wellness needs of older adults. Sports Leagues
• Organize, schedule, and manage youth and adult sports leagues, ensuring smooth operations and quality participant experiences. Kids Club
• Oversee daily after-school program activities, ensuring safe supervision, enrichment, and positive engagement for youth. Camps
• Plan and lead camp programming throughout the year, ensuring safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate experiences for all campers. Aquatics
• Manage aquatic programs, staffing, and safety operations to ensure high-quality swim lessons, recreation, and facility compliance. Volunteers
• Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers to ensure effective and meaningful program assistance. Sponsorships
• Develop and maintain sponsor partnerships to secure resources, enhance events, and strengthen community engagement.

Knowledge, Education & Experience Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12 th ) grade, supplemented by college level coursework in recreation administration, sociology, leisure studies, gerontology, physical education, or a related field.

Experience:

Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience coordinating comprehensive recreational programs.

Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment. Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid CPR and first aid certification issued by the American Red Cross, to be maintained throughout employment. Skills/Abilities Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff. Effectively provide staff leadership and work direction. Plan and prepare recreation activity schedules, staffing schedules, reports, and other related program materials. Respond to complaints or inquiries from citizens, staff, and outside organizations. Manage multiple projects and tasks of varying complexities and work well under pressure. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax. THE ORGANIZATION

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
