Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 6,700 TK-College students across 30 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Program Director at BGCP supports the daily operations, staff supervision, and academic and enrichment program implementation within the high school clubhouse location in East Palo Alto. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where youth can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. This role reports to the Site Director, East Palo Alto Clubhouse.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming & Event Management:
Lead Clubhouse team with daily execution of school-year and summer academics and enrichment programming activities Support the execution of longer-term program projects & events including, but not limited to: quarterly showcases, teen nights, Youth of the Year, and student field trips Support family engagement efforts including, but not limited to: family orientations and dinners Lead recruitment and retention efforts to ensure student engagement in academic and enrichment programs meet the required student targets Conduct monthly program and PQA observations to improve program quality
Strategic Planning & Curriculum Development:
Review and provide feedback on unit and daily lesson plans for academic and enrichment staff Develop collaborative strategies across program departments to elevate program quality and alignment across all programming at the Clubhouse Develop the East Palo Alto Clubhouse playbook that captures the vision and execution of high school programming to be used as an onboarding tool for new team members
Collaboration and Partnership Building:
Support school partner meetings and efforts with feeder high schools to share program outcomes with school leadership and maintain strong collaboration Support Clubhouse tours and other development events in collaboration with Development, Teen Staff and the Site Leadership Collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders to support program goals including: The Forest (RWC Clubhouse), Future Grads, BCSL, and other central support teams
Evaluation and Impact Assessment:
Support the development of strategic objectives and site plan for the EPA Clubhouse that guides team members' individual goals and scope of work Use data and outcomes to improve program effectiveness Support the Clubhouse's quarterly Results-Oriented Cycle of Inquiry to assess goal progress
Staff Management & Operations:
Supervise, support, and train Academic and Enrichment Clubhouse team members Support weekly staff meetings for effective Clubhouse and program operations Manage day-to-day program operations, including: scheduling, safety protocols, and facility upkeep Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience working with youth in an educational or after-school setting. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a dynamic environment. Passion for youth development and commitment to equity. Experience in program coordination, staff supervision, or community engagement preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; and some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling. The role also requires significant fine finger dexterity and near vision acuity. The position may occasionally involve lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Generally, the job requires approximately 20% sitting and 80% walking or standing. The work environment noise level is typically moderate but may occasionally be louder. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.

  • Friday, 10:30AM
  • 7:30PM, including occasional weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Employment Status:
Full-Time, Salary Pay Range:
$90,000
  • $105,000 annually, depending on experience (DOE)

Full-time employees are front-loaded 40 hours of paid sick time annually Contributing to a thriving community for youth growth: Beyond measure As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
