Job Description

Social Vocational Services (SVS) is a state-wide, California non-profit organization serving adults with developmental disabilities. Training in our Adult Day Programs is provided both in the community and at the local program facility 5 days per week. Emphasis is on the critical skills needed to participate in relevant, functional, age-appropriate activities customized to each client's needs and desires. Chosen activities promote independence through education, recreation and socialization. All activities stress interaction with others on a variety of levels and in numerous settings geared towards developing full participation in community life. Regional Director, Central Valley (Fresno) : SVS is currently looking for a reliable, outgoing, creative individual to fill the position of Regional Director for programs located in Fresno (Tower, Champlain, Bullard and Richert). Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a Bachelor's degree in a human service field and five years of experience (including 2 years management) in the field of developmental disabilities. Additional experience may be substituted for degree. You must have knowledge of the principles of management, supervision and training, principles and techniques of operating a human service agency, ability to formulate policies and procedures for administration of social services, ability to select, supervise and evaluate the performance of staff. Must speak effectively and prepare clear and concise written reports in English. You must have your own vehicle, valid California Driver's License and proof of auto liability insurance as mandated by the State of California. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Justice/FBI fingerprint clearance. Must be able to pass a post-job offer job related physical exam including a negative drug screen and TB test. Must obtain CPR/FA training and certification within first 30 days of employment and become a certified Crisis Prevention trainer within 6 months of hire. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Hire, supervise and train Program Directors Maintain approved staffing ratios within region Serve as Case Responsible Person (CRP) within region Chair Regional Safety Committee Chair Regional Client Advisory Committee Monitor compliance with state regulators (Community Care Licensing and San Andreas Regional Center) Attend internal and external meetings as appropriate (including quarterly meetings in San Francisco) Conduct and/or oversee all staff training Assume duties of Program Directors in their absence
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree, 5 years of experience in the field of developmental/intellectual disabilities, 2 of which are in a management position. Familiarity with developmental disabilities, an understanding of the philosophy of community-based and work programs, awareness of principles of normalization and development, effective writing skills to generate reports in an accurate and timely manner, ability to deal effectively with staff, clients and community members. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Prefer bilingual in Spanish.
Minimum Employment Requirements:
Need to have personal vehicle, valid California Driver's License and proof of auto liability insurance as mandated by the State of California. If required to drive company owned 9 passenger vans, must have a clean DMV report and have at least 2 years of driving experience. Must obtain Department of Justice/FBI fingerprint clearance and pass a job-related physical exam including a TB clearance prior to starting job.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs., stoop, bend, kneel, stand/walk up to 2 hours, be capable of manipulating wheelchairs, walkers and positioning non-ambulatory adults.
