This position provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences in areas such as arts, STEM, sports, and other enrichment programming that supports student development, creativity, and participation. When enrichment classes are not in session, the Program Enrichment Specialist will transition into the role of After School Program Group Leader, providing supervision, structured activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Enrichment Specialist:
Enrichment Activity Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate enrichment activities in various subject areas, such as arts and crafts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), sports , music, or theater. Create lesson plans, activity materials, and resources necessary for delivering effective enrichment classes. Adapt activities to accommodate the diverse interests and learning styles of students, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and skill development.
Instruction and Facilitation:
Lead instruction and facilitate learning experiences during enrichment classes, providing clear explanations, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance as needed. Encourage active participation and collaboration among students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development in the enrichment activities.
Student Engagement and Support:
Build positive relationships with students through communication and mentorship. Encourage curiosity, exploration, and positive learning experiences. Support students in overcoming challenges within enrichment activities.
After School Program Group Leader:

Supervision and Safety:
Supervise students during program hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Maintain a structured and orderly environment, enforcing program rules and behavior expectations consistently. Monitor students' interactions and activities, intervening as necessary to address conflicts or safety concerns.
Activity Coordination and Management:
Plan and organize recreational activities, games, and group exercises to keep students engaged and entertained during non-enrichment periods. Coordinate transitions between activities, ensuring a smooth flow of programming and maximizing student participation. Utilize positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to promote a supportive and respectful atmosphere.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and program staff to provide updates on activities, events, and student progress. Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate schedules, share resources, and maintain a cohesive program structure. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to youth development and after school programming.
Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe and organized environment for students, adhering to program safety protocols and procedures. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines related to program operation and student supervision. Coordinate a safe, engaging, and collaborative program for the number of students the program is required to service; meet year end attendance goals according to program requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
.. .. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with attendance management software (e.g., City Span) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to attendance and enrollment. Availability to work set school programming hours including before school hours, after school hours. Desire to work outdoors with students. Energetic, motivated, outgoing personalities strongly desired. 48+ College Units completed or Pass on SBUSD proficiency Exam. TB Test Clearance & Live Scan Clearance (Background check.) Bilingual preferred. Current CPR Certification. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The Program Enrichment Specialist must have a minimum of one year's experience in after-school programs or other qualifying experience. That experience should cover a wide variety of youth development programs, including the development, implementation, and the supervision of those programs. Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. A high school degree from an accredited educational institution is required. Must complete 48 college units or pass the district competency exam.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possess the physical requirements, strength, ability, and dexterity to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently throughout the work shift. Lifting will include tables, chairs, and equipment. Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have the ability to constantly move about to accomplish tasks or move from one place to another. Must have the ability to work around small children, including sitting, standing, and running.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to utilize active listening skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, with the ability to interpret general periodicals, technical procedures, or operational manuals.
PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Expected to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision. Work requires the ability to prioritize work tasks and assignments.
WORKING SCHEDULE
2:00 p.m.•6:00 p.m. / 2:30 p.m.•6:00 p.m. (PM Shift) Schedule is subject to change based on program needs or administrative direction approved by the Program Manager.
HOURLY WAGE
$22.00•22.50 per hour
