Job Description
ONEgeneration is seeking an experienced Senior Center Director for our Northridge, CA center. General Position Overview:
Responsibilities include managing day to day operations of the Senior Center (Wilkinson), maintaining a member-friendly environment, providing appropriate programs and activities, supporting volunteers and complying with the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging Contract. Responsible for the programmatic, budgetary and maintenance of the Senior Center (Wilkinson).Main Responsibilities:
Promote ONEgeneration's mission, programs, and services throughout the community. Supervise the Program Coordinator, Transportation Manager, and support Nutrition Department operations. Serve as the designated information, assistance, and referral representative for community support requests and internal program referrals. Plan, organize, and oversee programming and daily operations at the Wilkinson Senior Center. Recruit, train, direct, motivate, supervise, and evaluate staff, instructors, interns, volunteers, mentors, and group leaders. Monitor staff performance, program quality, and participant engagement to ensure effective service delivery. Oversee program implementation, activity development, and curriculum planning. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders. Build partnerships with local agencies, neighborhood councils, employers, faith-based organizations, and service providers to strengthen community engagement and support the Senior Center's mission. Monitor and support achievement of budgeted program income and ancillary revenue goals. Oversee all Evidence-Based Programming (EBP), including compliance, instructor requirements, and timely reporting. Ensure independent contractors' compliance with all requirements, including maintaining Certificate of Insurance, First Aid/CPR certification and provisions within the Professional Services Agreement Assist with grant research, grant writing, and ensuring timely completion of grant deliverables and reporting requirements. Collaborate with City Recreation and Parks staff to expand and enhance community programming. Incorporate intergenerational programming and develop partnerships with local schools and youth-serving organizations. Oversee program donations, collections, deposits, fundraising activities, and special events. Coordinate and oversee ONEgeneration's Annual Senior Symposium at Wilkinson. Prepare and submit required monthly statistical and program reports to the Los Angeles Department of Aging (LADOA). Serve as liaison to the Department of Aging and local elected officials regarding Senior Center programs and services. Ensure the Advisory Council functions effectively and in compliance with program requirements. Complete all other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Master Degree in Social Work or other related degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree required. At least 1 year of supervisory experience required. Experience writing and managing grants preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with older adults required. Knowledge of the aging process, leisure activity planning, facility management, and social welfare policy related to the geriatric population, including the implementation of policies. Knowledge of community resources and initiative in seeking and developing new resources and community partnerships. Strong management and leadership skills required. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively with staff, volunteers, members, clients, and the public through articulate verbal and written communication. Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in stressful or fast-paced environments. Strong customer service skills required, along with the ability to maintain a collaborative, warm, and welcoming attitude on a daily basis. Must be able to work cohesively and collaboratively alongside colleagues, including other program directors, while fostering a positive team environment. Ability to maintain flexibility and adapt effectively to changing priorities, organizational needs, and daily operational demands is essential.. Must receive their certification in Alliance of Information Referral Systems (AIRS) within the first 90 days of employment.Job Type:
