Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is seeking an innovative and community-minded AdventurePlex Programs Supervisor to help shape the future of youth and family programming at AdventurePlex. Full-time BCHD employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that supports their health, well-being, and future. What You'll Do Lead the development and implementation of innovative programs for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Develop, coordinate, and continuously improve seasonal camps and other youth and family programs. Identify community needs, research evidence-based practices, and recommend new or enhanced program offerings. Monitor enrollment, revenue, budgets, performance objectives, and program outcomes. Supervise and support program staff through hiring, training, coaching, delegation, performance management, and professional development. Regularly serve as the AdventurePlex manager on duty. Develop evaluation processes and track program metrics to measure impact and guide future decisions. Build relationships with schools, parents, community organizations, subject-matter experts, vendors, and independent contractors. Coordinate interns, including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and ongoing support. Collaborate with BCHD's Communications team on outreach, promotional materials, website content, newsletters, events, and customer feedback. Assist with contracts, grants, and budget tracking for assigned program areas. Represent BCHD at community meetings, presentations, speaking engagements, and events. Serve as an ambassador for BCHD's mission, vision, and core values of compassion, integrity, accountability, and excellence. What You'll Bring A bachelor's degree in child development, early childhood education, health promotion, public health, or a related health field is preferred. A master's degree is a plus. Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of formal education. At least three years of experience in program development or coordination, team or volunteer supervision, community organizing, outreach, promotion, or a related area. Experience working with children, parents, teachers, schools, or community-based programs. Strong leadership, coaching, relationship-building, and communication skills. Excellent organization, project management, and program management abilities. The creativity and initiative to take a program from idea to implementation. The ability to use data, community feedback, and current research to improve programming. Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills. The ability to communicate effectively with parents, school administrators, community partners, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software and databases. Knowledge of public health, health promotion, California education practices, or contract administration is beneficial. Additional Requirements Knowledge of First Aid and CPR practices. Ability to successfully complete a background check, tuberculosis test, and drug screening. A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under BCHD's automobile policy. Ability to travel throughout the South Bay to schools, childcare facilities, youth centers, community businesses, and other program locations. Ability to adjust the work schedule to support programs, events, and operational coverage, including occasional evenings and weekends. Ability to lift and carry program or event materials weighing approximately 5-25 pounds.
