Our mission is to mentor our at-promise communities to develop as people, scholars, and leaders. Position Summary The Director of Programs provides strategic leadership, programmatic oversight, and organizational coordination to ensure the effective and consistent delivery of JU4Y's programs and services. Working closely with the Executive Director and Executive Leadership, this position strengthens program capacity, promotes organizational alignment and accountability, and ensures that program operations, staffing, compliance, data, finances, and partnerships are effectively coordinated. The candidate will actively seek and coordinate grant and contract applications in partnership with the executive team and Director of Operations. The position provides direct leadership and support to Program Supervisors, establishes and monitors program systems and standard operating procedures (SOP), and promotes consistent communication and collaboration across programs. This role monitors and is responsible for program performance, data collection/interpretation, grant/contract compliance, staffing needs, budgets, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will also identify opportunities for improvement and ensure organizational priorities are effectively implemented. In partnership with the Executive Director, this position helps translate organizational strategy into actionable plans, manages cross-functional initiatives, and provides timely information and recommendations to support informed leadership and Board decision-making. The position also leads professional development and training efforts for program staff, supports external partnerships and organizational initiatives, and helps ensure continuity of program operations. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, collaborative, and solutions-oriented leader who can balance strategic thinking with strong attention to operational detail while maintaining strict confidentiality. This individual should demonstrate sound judgment, effective communication, strong project and people-management skills, and a commitment to JU4Y's mission, values, and the communities it serves. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Organizational Leadership Work directly with the Executive Director to assess and strengthen the organization's program capacity, efficiency, and infrastructure. Support the Executive Director in maintaining organizational alignment, accountability, and visibility across all programs. Collaborate closely with Executive Leadership across key organizational areas and initiatives. Develop, implement, and monitor the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all programs. Identify emerging issues, challenges, and areas requiring attention from Executive leadership. Prepare and share detailed, timely reports for the Board and Executive leadership meetings. Delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilities to direct reports and ensure follow-through. Support seamless continuity of program operations in partnership with the executive team and Director of Operations in the absence of the Executive Director. Program Administration & Management Recruit, hire, and train Program Supervisors to support successful program management. Provide guidance and leadership to Program Supervisors while maintaining appropriate supervisory boundaries. Coordinate regular team meetings and 1:1 leadership check-ins with Program Supervisors. Maintain accurate documentation of key updates, concerns, decisions, and follow-up items. Conduct and monitor quality assurance activities to ensure consistent, high-quality program services and staff accountability. Identify staffing concerns and develop solutions to challenges while ensuring appropriate issues are elevated to Executive leadership and Human Resources. Maintain cross-program collaboration and consistent communication between Executive leadership and Program Supervisors. Oversee and manage progressive discipline and employee termination procedures and processes. Collaborate effectively with interns and volunteers supporting the implementation of programs. Program Data & Compliance Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all contract and grant requirements and ensure ongoing adherence and compliance across programs. Coordinate with Program Supervisors to ensure all required data and supporting documentation are collected and submitted in a timely manner. Review and evaluate client-facing and program-facing data to assess program deliverables and performance, identify gaps and trends, and support continuous improvement and effective service delivery. Support Program Supervisors in maintaining readiness with existing and future grant-related audits, deadlines, and compliance and reporting requirements. Help identify gaps or inconsistencies in program reporting and communicate them appropriately. Financial & Budget Coordination Work directly with the Executive Director and finance staff to support financial operations. Develop and maintain knowledge of organizational finances to ensure financial compliance with grants and contracts. Actively participate in the annual budgeting and organizational financial planning processes. Monitor program expenses and ensure spending follows approved budgets and policies. Provide leadership and finance staff with programmatic information and recommendations that have budgetary implications. Ensure appropriate administrative controls and purchasing procedures are followed. Professional Development & Training Plan and facilitate regular professional development opportunities for program staff in collaboration with program leadership and subject-matter experts. Coordinate and organize Program Supervisor onboarding and trainings. Identify training needs based on organizational priorities, staff feedback, program needs, and compliance requirements. Support the development and distribution of training materials, resources, and tools. Track participation and completion of required trainings in collaboration with Human Resources. External Partnership & Organizational Communication Support Program Supervisors in maintaining effective communication with external partners, schools, community organizations, funders, and other stakeholders. Track significant external partnership updates and communicate relevant information to leadership. Support with coordination of organizational meetings, events, presentations, and community initiatives as assigned. Represent JU4Y professionally and consistently with organizational mission, values, and expectations. Special Projects & Organizational Initiatives Seek and coordinate grant and contract applications in partnership with the executive team and Director of Operations. Lead or support special projects assigned and delegated by the Executive Director. Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that require collaboration among multiple programs or departments. Develop project timelines, staffing, action plans, tracking systems, and follow-up processes as needed. Support leadership with organizational planning, implementation, and evaluation initiatives. Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope of this position. Qualifications Required Master's degree required, preferably in related fields such as business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, organizational leadership, social services, or education; equivalent professional experience may be considered. Demonstrated minimum of two (2) years of experience coordinating programs, projects, teams, and/or organizational operations. Demonstrated minimum of five (5) years of experience in the nonprofit sector with case management. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Google Workspace and other tools and systems. Preferred Experience developing and implementing strategic plans and organizational initiatives. Experience working with grant-funded programs, including grant compliance and data. Experience working with youth, youth-serving organizations, schools, or community partners. Relevant professional certifications, credentials, or specialized training in the organization's field of work. Bilingual or multilingual proficiency, particularly in languages related to the communities served. Work Environment This position operates in a professional nonprofit environment and may require regular interaction with staff, youth, families, school personnel, community partners, and organizational stakeholders. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work in support of organizational events, meetings, training, or program activities.
