The Peer Support Specialist provides structured, recovery-oriented support to clients and assists staff with operational needs within the program. This includes transportation of clients, chaperoning appointments and meetings, conducting errands such as medication pickups, facilitating engagement in program services, and supporting overall program functioning.Responsibilities:
Support clients in accessing behavioral health, medical, housing, and community services. Encourage participation in treatment activities, groups, and appointments. Promote development of wellness strategies, daily functioning, and recovery‑focused goals. Provide safe transportation for clients to approved destinations including medical appointments, community services, and program‑related activities. Chaperone clients at meetings, ensuring appropriate support and communication with staff as needed. Pick up prescribed medications from pharmacies according to program protocols. Complete assigned errands such as obtaining supplies, documents, or other program‑related items. Assist staff with day‑to‑day program operations, client check‑ins, group activities, and coordination tasks. Assist with onboarding or orienting clients to program expectations and resources. Complete required documentation including service logs, transportation records, and progress notes in accordance with program and county standards. Promote a safe and supportive environment by recognizing signs of escalating stress and notifying appropriate clinical staff. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED 1 year work experience in the Behavioral Health Industry is preferred but not required Completion of a CalMHSA‑approved Peer Support Specialist training program is preferred for certification. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and customer relations skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment individually and with a team Multitasking and job-role flexibility Ability to safely transport clients using company or approved vehicles Current TB Test, Drug Test, Physical Test required Must have a valid Driver's License and SSN Current CPR, First-Aid Certification and must pass a comprehensive background check.
