JOB DESCRIPTION
Teen Coordinator
GENERAL FUNCTION
The Teen Coordinator shall be responsible for implementing strategies that will provide the Club with broad based educational enrichment, social and leadership programs and opportunities supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley's commitment to teens.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Must possess organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be creative in motivating teens to participate in educational, social and leadership programs. Demonstrated ability in planning, initiating and interpreting activities, programs and services based on the developmental needs of teens. Work independently without close supervision. Follow oral and written instructions Maintain an understanding of the needs and behaviors of children. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Principles of supervision Basic first-aid as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Class "C" license for over 2 years and a clean driving record. Must be at least 18 years old High School Diploma Valid First-Aid & CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency preferred and maintained on an as needed basis.
KEY ROLES
(Essential Job Responsibilities): Establish Teen programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Teen Club experience that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes. Continually evaluate programs to ensure they respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity. Attend regular meetings with Branch Director to discuss program direction and goals. Manage Teen Instagram account and create appropriate content to market our program. Maintain discipline and assure a safe environment Prepare a plan of ongoing daily and weekly activities and special projects. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Produce and post monthly program calendars for teen programs. Oversee membership recruitment and community outreach. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including; activities and events conducted; breakdowns of daily participation figures; notable achievements and any problems/issues.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Must plan activities and implement programs according to community needs as well as recruit targeted members to participate in these programs and assist in their delivery. Oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs, Teen Nights), and/or participate in the implementation of other BGCA National Programs and other programs as directed by supervisor and unit activities as necessary. Responsible for inspecting program area and submitting maintenance requests as needed in order to assure that the program area is safe and in order. Responsible for the overall cleanliness, safety and neatness of the Teen Center. Will be required to drive Club vehicle. Serve as Acting Branch Director in the Branch Director's absence. Consult with parents concerning member and site issues. Perform all other duties as deemed necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. Administer basic first-aid as required. Participate in available workshops and program trainings. Partnership Development Develop partnerships with parents, local high schools, middle schools, community leaders and organizations. Marketing and Public Relations Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community. Represent the BGCSCV functions as directed.
Hazards:
Incumbents may have contact with blood and other bodily fluids from ill or injured children.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must have the physical skills abilities for the working conditions that are required to perform the essential duties of this position, as required by the American with Disabilities Act. The physical skills might include sitting or standing for long periods of time, walking and carrying or lifting items up to 40 pounds at one time, squatting, bending over, twisting, or repetitive motions. These activities might be in addition to other physical skills that are needed to complete the job description.
